SaintsPhil
Well I can never seem to resist a GB! I had a few plans for this one, top of the list was an SU-22 closely followed by a Mig-23 (both 1/48). The GB falls slap bang over my wedding though so time is against me!! SWMBO wouldn't be too keen on me taking a model on honeymoon for some reason... Instead ill go for a simple(!) build in 1/72. I decided to go for a Tornado F3, the Revell reboxing of the Italeri kit To make the build even more simple I'm going to model her in flight using pilot figures from the new Revell NATO pilot set I managed to get hold of a set of decals for this beauty: http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air/Panavia-Tornado-F3/1905283/&sid=827f9e7b0ada93404ab4689d060f965c Just so it's not too easy a build though I'm going to chuck a bit of AM at it too! Not sure exactly when I'll start, as DIY is also taking up valuable time at the bench! Phil

SaintsPhil
Thanks chaps! First update, as usual I started with the cockpit, not the kits finest point... I was going to make a plasticard tub and use the PE but I'm lazy, plus the PE is a bit 2D so I dug out this: A spare from a GR kit, which came with a bonus resin pit! Ill use the IPs from the PE set I think, the only tricky part then is matching the colour... As for PE I've added the PE rear seat screens etc Plus the HUD which needed some mods to make it fit under the front screen! Next up I've got to test fit the IPs and see how they go in! MPaul
Looking sweet there Phil. Just been looking at your black F3 from the Tornado STGB, and if this comes out as good (or better as I hope you dont have the same mishaps) then I cant wait to see the finished model. What kit is the GR tub from. It looks very much like my revell one, but I dont have the centre section with piping on that yours does in the picture. SaintsPhil
Thanks Paul, I probably won't make the same mistake but I'm sure ill find something else to cock up!! It's the Revell tub, the part with the piping is part of it, a separate part so check your sprues!

SaintsPhil
Ok so I was all set to abandon this build as the fit of the fuselage halves is awful! No big gap, but a massive step, which is possibly hard to deal with I think! I have decided not to back down though and joined the 2 halves. Camera battery on charge so pic to follow! AirfixAndy
Looking good mate Once you have the fuselage cleaned up it turns out to be a very nice build. I did mine last year and I swear the plastic is now about 4 microns thick after all the sanding ! Look forward to seeing more ... Andy
