Silver Fox
This my latest attempt. It is the old but still nice RM C-47 finished as NZ3503 using Eagle Strike decals.I tried to give it a battered and worn finish but I'm always too timid to get a really heavily worn finish. The flash on the camera has washed out some of ther weathering but it is still looks a bit too pristine in reality. These machines were vital to the RNZAF efforts in the Solomons and as such i wanted to pay tribute to the men who flew in all sorts of weather conditions with very little glory. The kit is very much out of the box, with Quickboost wheels and engines. The wheels are nice but I don't think I'd use the engines again. Thanks for looking

tonyot
She`s a beauty,.....one of the best 1/48th Daks that I`ve seen! I`ve got the same RNZAF decals in 1/72nd to use on an Esci kit someday, the Kiwi markings look great on the old Dakota. Viking
Nice looking Dak, the faded paint looks just right. Cheers John
Silver Fox
Thanks for the kind words gentlemen. It is a very enjoyable kit to build and the Eagle strike Decals are excellent, shame they stopped producing them.

AndyC
Lovely effort with that - I built the AC version and was staggered how big it is when done!
bigbadbadge
Nice Dakota, Great work. I have one to build and what has always stopped me (apart from needing a bigger house) is the raised panel lines as I am not sure whether to leave as is or sand off. Thanks for sharing. MartinSK
Nice Dakota, I have one on my table to convert it to DC-3...I will leave raised panels as on the historic photos of this machine it doesnt like that it must be engraved...only it might be difficult to make weatering (to show lines) for raised panels...anyone has experience with this? thanks Martin Edited April 7, 2013 by MartinSK
Silver Fox
I didn't rescribe as I too feel it would be wrong for ther Dakota. I did preshade before painting and used patches of faded and darken Olive Drab to achieve a patchwork look. I think it would be a lot more difficult on a natural metal finished DC-3.
