1-32 Revell Spitfire Mk.22 Quick Build Challenge

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

So as promised here are the pictures of the Revell 1-32 Spitfire Mk.22 I recently built, setting myself the challenge of building it in 1 week.

The WIP thread can be found below.

http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234936953-quick-build-challenge-revell-1-32-spitfire-mk2224/

I decided to do the model representing aircraft PK599 RAT-K of 613 Sqn (City of Manchester) Sqn, Royal Auxiliary Air Force, based at Ringway, during 1949. The kit decals provide aircraft PK596 RAT-L but I decided to complement my current collection by turning the '6' of the serial upside down and making my own letter 'K' out of the decals provided for the Sky Fuselage band, mine having been painted. The reference for this aircraft can be found in the WIP thread.

The model was made OOB and was painted using Acrylic Citadel paints applied by brush, an oil wash was applied to the panel lines and a satin varnish coat of varnish was applied.

Hope you like the pics.

I achieved the build in my week I allocated, just took a while to get the good weather to take the photos!

Good work Tommy. I have a real soft spot for this kit from a nostalgic point of view. I remember building one in it's original Matchbox guise as a nipper while on holiday in a static caravan in Cornwall with my parents! Have often been tempted, 30-odd years later, to get a new Revell one and have another bash...

Wow, an extraordinary build of a really hard kit of a beautiful aircraft. The pictures are breathtaking, only the matchbox panel lines give the game away that its not real. Awesome job!
