huvut76g7gbbui7
Thanks for that. The Cosford one has yellow markings which I understood were used on live bombs. Would the training round have a blue stripe? RG
Selwyn
Can anybody tell me please, what colour was the training shape of this bomb as flown on Scimitar and Buccaneer? RG The Practice (Not training) bomb would have been overall White probably with a green tail. In 1964 Practice bombs were then changed to pale Blue for a short while and then to Deep Saxe Blue (which is actually a light blue) the colour is still used today on practice bombs. I dont know if any were ever repainted into the pale blue, The changeover from the British to NATO colour schemes from 1964 was a slow process, I don't think Red Beard was still in service when they went to DSB. The Bomb in the picture is painted in the Live scheme: Green =operational, Yellow= HE, Orange broken band =for the tinned sunshine bit!
