Hi all well this is my first post of the year I have been busy with a kit I have become particularly fond of and I have been looking forward to sharing these with you. I really would have liked to get some natural light shots but unfortunately I've had to resort to flash photography which I'm not keen on so maybe some better photos later should anyone like to see them.

XH558 1992 scheme I tried very hard to get the cammo pattern right on this or as near too I tried to recreate her as I remember her when I was a kid and made up various decals for the entrance door script and large ejection seat triangles she used to carry I also extended the tail pipes.

VX777 This one took 4 weeks to modify. the tail cone is wet finger shaped out of milliput using the supplied blue steel missile as a core and the tail extended using the spare supplied tail. the engine exausts were made out of airfix vc10 axle mountings. the air intakes were left as per kit. and the wings simply filled down to shape. the various parts removed from the engine tunnels and skybolt hardpoint plate plate removed.

As I said to you Rob..wonderful stuff ! , I really like the variation in schemes and finishes and the prototype is just gorgeous. At this rate you'll have every Vulcan used in service !!....you just need a silver B1 now ...

Melchie

hi there general thanks very much im not sure i would go as far as making them all or afford it. still its early yet and i never tire of making vulcans. however i need a break after the prototype conversion that was alot of work few. but worth it.

i have got others yet to make these little dragon ones im trying to do all variations or most of them. a silver b1 is on the cards possibly the unusual b1a xa895, that said i like b1as best in camo.

i also wish to do a 60s scheme b2 and an interim b2mrr in the intermediate 60s 70s livery.

i really must do a falklands one too.

i look forward to seeing your b1a finished at somepoint in the future. cheers rob

Excellent models, all of them! You really have got "Vulcanitis" bad, haven't you?

Martin

Thanks martin yes I've got the vulcan infection very bad indeed and have no desire to be cured I don't think there is a cure and hope there never is cheers rob

A magnificent display of mighty Vulcan bombers ! Great builds of each of these and the white Mk 1 winged VX 777 is sensational. Very nice !

Actually, I am in the midst of a re-build of a very old 1/100 Vulcan into the straight-winged XA 890 but new decals to use are a problem at that scale. Any suggestions would be welcome !

Thanks very much mike in glad you like I can help with the decals for 1/100 and 1/96 lindberg and frog vulcans as I have built a few of both. It depends which you have I have done xa890 xa889 from the lindberg kits and xa891 from the frog. I used fantasy printshop codes and roundels and xtradecal roundels and codes if its a Lindy the proportions are a bit squat and you need to use odd sizes to trick the eye the kit ones are useless. As for the frog I used a different size but on reflection I could have used smaller ones for the nose as It happens I've actually been sizing them for my next frog build so soon ill make notes and share with you details ill also post my trio to show you cheers rob

Here you go mike my first build on return to the hobby in 2008

Xa890 I didn't get the best size codes on this one and she does need more black on the nose I oddly painted this with a sponge dabbing it!

And here is another Lindy xa889 yet to be having its own spot on here panel lines done with chalk

This isn't doing much for my reputation of having an addiction to tin triangles so here just to prove I make other models is something completely different

Thanks, Rob, that is excellent advice ! It is actually the old 1/96 Lindberg I have and it was originally built many years ago in a very non-standard camoflage scheme. I have removed all the paint and decals and, since many of the parts were de-bonded anyway at that point, I re-built it as best I could, but it is still in need of a paint finish and reasonably-sized decals.

I will check into getting decals from those sources you have recommended !

And, of course, those are really terrific early Vulcans you have showed there in original silver finishes. They look great !

Once again thanks mike I really must try and do more photoshopped pics if these that's something of a hobby also. It can be hard working out what size to get initially I have just bought loads off sizes of codes and decals fin flashes in both 1/72 and 1/144 and 1/48 as the standard sizes from both can make up the sizes you need for these and also I figured even if I don't use them all they will come in eventually as I built mostly raf stuff and often kit decals roundels are strange nasty colours so its always good to replace them with these. I found that out the hard way early on but had lots of fun painting out old decals and adding superior ones good job I like a challenge! That said there are some kits I wouldn't try like the Mach 2 valiant that thing looks more like a form of self abuse that a kit of fun. I was relieved when airfix released theirs.

If you need any spare Lindy vulcan parts I'm sure I have some wheels kicking around as I have a few of these pitot tubes too if you need them I can send you some. On mine I left the legs as supplied they are a bit high but b1s were higher than b2s but I used airfix vulcan wheels for the front and revel victor wheels for the back with steel wire axles so they rotate as the kit wheels are a bit lacking

All the best rob
