theplasticsurgeon
Inspired by St Phils B-2 - I dug this HobbyCraft kit out of my stash.Right at the bottom of the pile, propping up a huge pile of kits - it's impossible to put it back now.I've got to build it now - and about a dozen boxes fell on top of me!This kit cost me 8.99 in 2002. Here are the box contents.Stealthily, unadvertised anywhere on the box - and unnoticed until tonight, this is also includedThis is the painting instruction. The only option is Spirit of Texas. SaintsPhil
Nice choice! The kit looks fairly simple, which may be agood thing given the fit of the Revell offering!!
theplasticsurgeon
I got this very boxing mself, but no F-117... I feel cheated! I want my money back! And there I was thinking of taking it back I love the GBU's looking like missiles I won't be using those . Button this baby up for a quick build. Anyway, with nothing to see in the cockpit - I just painted it black inside And installed enough lead to hold the nose down.

Dazzio
Wow and I thought the Revell F-117 looked bad!!! That one is well off shape, wonder if they based the shape of it on the Have Blue aircraft?? Still the Spirit is looking damn impressive, I thought it was going to be a pig to sort out but you've proved me wrong. I'm liking very muchly Kind Regards Dazz

Dazzio
This should give you a good idea how big the B-2 is, the other two models are the Revell F-14D and E-2C Hawkeye. Kind Regards, Dazz

theplasticsurgeon
Declaring completionSo what do I think of this kit.Well frankly not much. I think the all important shape of the air-intakes is flawed, and there is an error with the shape of the cockpit rear window. I don't know enough to say if the rest of the shape is accurate or not - but it does look pretty simple.I'll be very interested to see if St Phil's model shapes out any better.I thank the rest of you participants of this GB - I was floundering with other projects, and hope this has rejuvinated me.Now for a Stealth Story:The first time a B2 Steath Bomber came to Fairford air show.Previously I was a regular attendee at the IAT and RIAT shows.Must have been 1997 - a Stealth Bomber was top billing, and wasn't even going to land!Flight all the way from a US air-base, and possibly straight back again. There was no way that this single parent with a two year old and very unco-opperative ex would be able to get to an event just 25 miles away.Instead I made alternate plans. My mum bused over from her place, we had lunch and spent the day together, then I drove her home. I was very aware of the air-show, air traffic was a bit heavier than usual around Gloucestershire. As I drove her home at about 4pm - I had my car sunroof open. About 2 miles south of my place, I heard a lot of noise.I managed to pull off the road, for a quick glance upwards. There she was escorted by two F-15 Eagles.Well worth seeing - and made my weekend after all.Thank you and good-night from Tim Edited March 5, 2013 by theplasticsurgeon

I saw the the event you described. The B-2 did that a couple of years running. I watched it from the airbase once and stopped by the roadside on the second occasion. I seem to remember them playing some very powerful, evocative music track as the trio flew past. Amazing that they'd fly her all the way from the States and then straight back again just for a single fly-by. Strange too that they felt the need for an Eagle escort. I can't imagine that happening again anytime soon. I remember seeing them for the first time with the armed guard. She's a noisy so and so on take-off and such a bizarre "otherwordly" sight once airborne. Thanks for sharing the build. Just the F-117 to finish then? Cheers. I thought the F-15s were there to spoil radar or IR images, in case anybody tried to record signatures etc whilst over Britain. A lot of foreign kit was around Gloucestershire that week.
