Enzo the Magnificent Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 (edited) Je suis un rock star Je avais une residence Je habite-la In the sarf of France Voulez-vous Partir wiv me And come and restez-la Wiv me in France. Nope. I'm not building a Concorde. Or a hovercraft (that would've been cool!) But BEA's on strike. There's no planes flyin'... Edited February 24, 2013 by Enzo Matrix 1
Enzo the Magnificent Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 Okay... it's a Vickers Viscount in BEA livery! Whenever I see an aircraft in BEA livery, I'm reminded of that Bill Wyman song. Anyroads... The kit is by S&M Models, with decals from TwoSix Decals. The kit has very few parts... Assembly won't take long! Told ya! I'm going to try something different on this one. There are no panel lines on the kit - just control surface breaks which are rather Matchboxesque. So I'm going to fill them and use the TwoSix detail set to provide any surface detail. 1
Enzo the Magnificent Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 Not much change at first glance. But actually I have removed all the control surface breaks. I sanded down the trailing edges which were rather thick anyway. The primer is Alclad black. 1
Enzo the Magnificent Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 I've done a bit of painting... The white is Alclad white primer. The rest of the paint is Lifecolor: UA043 Grey; LC074 Gloss Natural Metal; LC056 Gloss Red. A few minor touchups, a couple of squirts of Klear and we'll be ready for the decals next weekend. 2
Enzo the Magnificent Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 Starting to look a little better. 2
Mike Howles Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Now, did you remember to add the nose weight?? Or is it going to be wheels up? It's not a bad kit really and it does look nice on the shelf with the other 4 engined pax aircraft. Look forward to seeing it finished! 1
Enzo the Magnificent Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 Now, did you remember to add the nose weight??nodnodnod Makes a change for me.
Enzo the Magnificent Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 Doing this a bit back to front. Stencils on first! 1
Enzo the Magnificent Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 Finished! This one has been fun! The kit is simpler than the simplest thing in Simpleland. However, it still needs some refining. Nevertheless, it's a good 'un. I recommend that every member of BM get one of these, 'cos you can never have to many Viscounts! The TwoSix decals are superb. But that seems to be par for the course with TwoSix. Incidentally, the kit decals are by TwoSix as well. Here's one I made earlier... So... where to now? Vanguard? BAC 1-11? Yes, if I can find the kits. Oh... and G-AOYR was painted in a huge variety of liveries, so if (when) I build another Viscount, it will probably be YR again. Unless I build a whif in RAF Transport Command camouflage... 4
John P Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Yes very nice finished model. Likewise the viscount a favourite of mine from my days at EMA. Northeast is great scheme if you need ideas! Agreed Two Six decals are very crisp. John 1
Dazzio Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 That looks the nuts. Very very cool Kind Regards Dazz 1
Enzo the Magnificent Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 Northeast is great scheme if you need ideas! G-AOYR served with Northeast, so that's a distinct possibility!
pabbi Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Very nice finish Enzo I would like to build this kit some day in Icelandair scheme 1
nimrod54 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Lovely model Enzo. This will be the next completion out of my current builds. 1
Antony Robertson Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Fantastic, looks awesome, very well done. Antony 1
Will Vale Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 That's gorgeous - just impeccably neat and the colours are rich and vibrant. How did you mask the red on the wing leading edge where it follows the line of the nacelles? 1
Enzo the Magnificent Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 How did you mask the red on the wing leading edge where it follows the line of the nacelles? I photocopied the TwoSix Decals stencil sheet and cut out a mask from that. I attached the mask with Copydex.
