John_W Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 April 1945, just... Spur of the moment purchase, only went in for filler.
John_W Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 Chassis together. Wife has taken the kids to the in-laws for half term while I "supervise" the douuble glazing fitters. Model on!
robw_uk Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 nice start... does that read "weight"? would this overbalance if the turret was turned to either side??
John_W Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 Doesn't come with the cast chassis of some of the others, weight is in leui. Practicly building itself. Major assemblys done. No tires to paint on this one Time to eat. Can't survive on glue fumes.
AnonymousDFB1 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Love the Tamiya 1:48 range, not got this one yet
John_W Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 Detail on the turret. Carpet monster ate some of the handles so resorted to ye olde stretched sprue. May sit up till midnight on this...
John_W Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 Detail on the hull, less pioneer tools. Metalcote polished steel on the tracks. Crewmember assembled and filled. Time to sleep I think.
John_W Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 Not tired...yet. Painted the turret stripes, no masking and used a 000 brush to give a scale handpainted look. Now definitely going to bed.
robw_uk Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 very nice - love the white stripe, and you got the scale handbrushed down good....
John_W Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 (edited) Morning. Had a lie in, no kids Tracks on, I love the Tamia tracks. Can't believe how fast this build is going. Edited February 21, 2013 by John_W
John_W Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 Didn't make it a 24 hour build. Stopped for this, wife comes home tommorow. Anyway, got it all buttoned up and stickers on: Then weathered the crap out of it - Citadel washes and drybrushing. Will finish the weathering, add the tow cables and do some daylight pics for the gallery tommorow. Disapointed with the figure, realy not up to the standard of the rest of the kit
Learstang Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Very nice! That was an impressive-looking tank with that monstrous 122mm gun. Put that next to an ISU-152 assault gun and if I saw those two coming down the "strasse" (if they'd fit in it side-by-side), I'd run very quickly in the opposite direction. Regards, Jason
robw_uk Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 man that looks good - and thanks for making me a birthday cake.... a day early but much appreciated ;-)
John_W Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 Reference pic: Wasn't brave enough to mash the mudguards. May try and scratch some personal gear.
John_W Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 Right, caling this one done. Added a littl bit of stowage. Today I lost my GB virginity! Second GB entered, but first actualy finished. More going in the gallery.
AndyC Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Amazing build John in such a short time - absolutely love that pre- and post-weathering comparison photo!
AnonymousDFB1 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Great build I will need to add one of them to the stash
