Iain Ogilvie
Whilst waiting for my P-61 to arrive I've acquired a couple of useful references: The Osprey book - I paid £4.99 on Ebay and it's OK (but not brilliant) - especially if you want to replicate the nose art from one of the depicted airframes... And Northrop's Night Hunter by Jeff Kolln - £19.27 from Amazon and looks an excellent book!! May even give me enough info to do an F-15A conversion (need another P-61 kit! ) Just need my kit to arrive now! Iain
happenstance
Am thinking, would it be possible to fill the tires with silicone RTV or caulk? It sort of depends upon how they are mounted as to what may be possible. This would give (after curing) a solid tire that would not sag. You would have two choices, (1) allow the tire to cure before putting it on the model, so that it would remain round, or (2) allow it to cure on the model, with its weight perhaps, if sufficient, to realistically flatten the bottom. This latter choice would result in a permanently flattened bottom, so it would no longer roll, but might look more realistic in position. (I was thinking before, actually, to suggest that if it flattened, to just add more air pressure! <g>) Filling with silicone would be messy but, I think, doable?
