Right, having taken the advice, I've used matt varnish to dull down the coats and given them a bit of a darker wash.

Much better Dave, what flesh paint are you using?

I've started using the Vallejo colours and the secret is the dark flesh wash from the Vallejo panzer

Aces range. Really good stuff.
