Shar2 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Started this soon after my last operation, but lost interest whilst healing. Things just went together really well and I'm very pleased with the results. 2
Panzer Vor!!! Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 top class chap very very good for a first attempt at snow you.ve done very well
AndyC Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Very nice diorama Dave - brave man...snow! Phew!
TinHead Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 That's a neat little Dio indeed! Can I ask, how did you do the map? Andy
Shar2 Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 The map actually came printed on the instruction sheet. MiniArt think of everything these days I just cut it out, sprayed it with Humbrol matt varnish and scrunched it up a bit.
robw_uk Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 (edited) nice - how did the base go together? tempted by adding a couple of bases to my stash for posing tanks for photos.. not sure which way to go - generic is going to be best i think Edited February 15, 2013 by robw_uk
Panzer Vor!!! Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 i wonder if using mini arts cobbled street would be best for pics??
Mike Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I do like Miniart kits - they're very thoughtful Now... get a coat of matt on those soldiers, or I'll send Andy/Dave/Brian down to poke your knees!
HL-10 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 (edited) I think snow is one of the hardest things to model. You've done a great job on making it looking good, I'm getting shivers looking at it! The wet soggy mud is very realistic. Very nice little diorama, figures look good and the worn snow camouflage on the tank is nicely done too! Edited February 15, 2013 by HL-10
Panzer Vor!!! Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 You... I can never remember your first name oh well simples its dave same as dave h
Panzer Vor!!! Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 HOY get these figures sorted !!!!! call yourself a modeller shame on you shame glossy coats
Mike Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I've already had a go at him on the phone, so he's probably rattling a can of Humbrol matt clear as we speak
Shar2 Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 For those that gave nice comments thanks, to the other two As it is I have now given the troops a spray of matt varnish and will take some better pictures later. Rob, the MiniArt kits go together really well if a bit of time is taken cutting the bits out from the backing sheet. I've got a few more in the stash for which I have plans forming already.
sunshine coast Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Nice build and a good job on the snow and mud .... But I would try running a bit of dark wash on the figures, it should bring out the features and creases and folds on the clothing as well.....now they are matt !! Regards Trevor.....
Shar2 Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Cheers Trevor, every bit of advice is welcome. Will give it a go later this evening.
