dambuster
Finally scanned a few of my oldies. Taken on my trusty old Canon AE1 in the early evening somewhere over the North Sea. Peter

Thunderbolt II
Know that this thread has been around a while now, but only just found it! Building a UH 'vark in the near future- I have one question- what the heck ARE those stores on the inner pylons? see them all the time and can't fathom it. Are they ECM? They seem pretty much ubiquitous on 80's 'varks so thought I should include them. Any help gratefully received!
Dr Evil
Those stores are SUU-21 practice bomb dispensers, seemed pretty popular with USAFE aircraft rather than the SUU-20 used State-side. I've heard tell in the past that they were used in Europe for safety as the bottom wasn't open as on the -20, however, dispensers such as CBLS were exposed so that reason may well be a load of tosh! Thunderbolt II
Thanks, Dr Evil. All makes sense now! Have to try to source some now.
Iain Ogilvie
Magic - very happy memories of the Heyford Varks and their crews... Drive past UH going to and from work - a sad place now. Iain
goggsy
Nice, I used to see these on a daily basis over the lake district. One or two crashed there as well. I've an old Academy 1/48 kit with Paragon slats that I may get around to building some day.
