Shar2
Russian BTR-60P APC E35-1521:35 ET Model Having already released a comprehensive set for Trumpeters BTR-60P, HERE, ET Models have now released a similar set for the BTR-60PB. Whilst some of the etched parts are shared with the two types ET Models havent been complacent and just kept to the same parts. This set comprises of four sheets of relief etched parts, an acetate sheet, resin aerial bases, 14.5mm machine gun and a brass 7.92mm co-axial machine gun. As with their other sets, this one comes in the standard ET packaging of poly bag with card header. The sheets are taped onto black card and the instructions of 41/2 sides of A4 are on green paper. These are very clear and well laid out, but they will still require careful reading before starting to assemble the etched parts, as some of the kit parts need to be altered or removed before these can be added. Where holes need to be cut or drilled there are clear measurements to help the modeller get it right. Plastic or brass rod of various diameters will also be required to use as directed. As per the BTR-60P the first operation is to cut out the large holes on the underside and rear of the hull to add the parts for the waterjet. The intake on the underside consists of horizontal and vertical strips which go together to make up the oval grid. For the outlet a new outer rim propeller and propeller vane are added along with the two internal rudders. Also on the underside are several hatch plates and vents along with three support brackets on each side of the wheel space. The interior is fitted out with replacement parts for the instrument panel, with acetate instruments, foot pedals, multi-part cooling/heating fan, tyre pressure control panel parts, and new bulkhead for the starboard side. The majority of the rest of the build are the many sub-assemblies that make up the numerous hinges, brackets, access doors and hatches, gun port covers, three exhaust shrouds, light fittings and the long foot plates that run along both sides of the hull are provided. On the rear decking this set has a replacement engine intake grille, comprising of the grille and surround which is fitted over the kit part once the edges have been removed. The turret receives a new mantlet, optical sights, whilst the 14.5mm gun gets a new support structure and barrel brackets. Once these are fitted, the brass 7.92mm machine gun barrel can be added. In addition to other sub-assemblies mentioned above, the upper hull is fitted with new footsteps, storage rack fittings, rear corner bumpers, windscreen wipers, and jerry can straps.[/center] Conclusion ET Models are really cranking these sets out, almost keeping up with the rash of new kits that are being released. That said, the quality and detail are still superb and will certainly make great additions to the completed model. As with the other sets, there are numerous very small parts, so good pair of pliers or tweezers are a must, as is a fair amount of patience. Recommended. Dads203
Looks like a real cracker of a set Dave, the base kit is already very well detailed and this will really add to it. Cheers for the review Dan
