Antoine Posted February 3, 2013 Share Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) North American P-51B-10-NA Mustang Ex- 4th Fighter Group Swiss air force Kit: Tamiya Scale: 1/48 Decals: box (stencils) Paints: Tamiya, vallejo, Alclad, Mr color super metallic, Mr color super clear varnish Aftermarket: Nada Other materials: Fishing line for radio antenna, tamiya tape for masking This aircraft, flown by 1st Lt Curtis Simpson, 4th fighter group from Debden, was on an escort mission to Augsburg on 19th july 1944, when they ran into 109 that were followed up to Austria. The engine started to overheat due to a faulty electrical system, so Simpson elected to head for Switzerland, and landed at Ems without further problems. He returned to Debden in october 1944, without the aircraft. The mustang was tranported by road and by rail to Dubendorf, were it was made fyable again for trials.
