I been looking at this kit (1/32 H182 Revell McDonnell-Douglas F-4E Phantom II) for a chop and hack project. I want to use some of the parts out of it but not sure of how accurate it is. I know it is not the same as the other newer Revell F-4E/F/RF but l think it will give me engines and parts for earlier Vietnam era F-4E. Opinions?

Well Hacker, if the clear sprue becomes surplus to requirements I may be able to use it with my ancient Revell F-4J!! Please PM me if you find you don't need them,

Thanks

Simon

...and if you find that you can do without the slotted tailplanes, I'll buy them off you! I desperately need a set...

What are you going to use the parts from this kit to attach to? It'd be useful to know.

Cheers,

Dean

I just collect parts for projects down the road on my model build bucket list. I may use the kit as is or combine it with a new revell kit not sure yet but I can get it cheap. Not having instructions nor decent photo of the sprues l was just asking about it. The one photo l do have shows engines which caught my eye

I built this beast years ago (Cost GBP 1.65!) with German markings and no stores. Must have been 40 years ago.

Manages to get the stores off ebay, and just bought a Flightpath nose for a B/C/D, and a set of Aires nozzles for same. I have a set of USAFE decals, so mine is undergoing a long overdue revamp!

Should look like this!

l have seen the E and the J on ebay and always had a passing thought about how they are accuracy wise. Do not care about a spare cockpit that can be solved these days but it is the parts that might be useful as l said l am sure they come with engines

Ah yes, 667. I remember it well from my days at Woodbridge. It never carried the wing patch during the time that I was there (March 75 - March 77). I saw it later on in 1987 when it was with the California ANG unit at Fresno. She was in Euro 1 livery at the time. Then just over 3 year ago I saw it again in the boneyard at Davis-Monthan wearing the Hill 1 all gray scheme sitting right next to another former 78th TFS bird, 65-0721. 721 had the bad batch of tan paint and later was transferred to the 48th TFW at Lakenheath. Xtradecals have markings for it at Lakenheath, but I will use the 81st tail codes instead.

Later,

Dave

Here ya go 721 at Da'Heath in 'dodgy tan'

You will notice that the tan underneath the tail codes is in the correct color since they repainted that area to apply the new tail codes. She didn't have any tail stripe that I remember from my time at Woodbridge, and the little bit of color on the nose gear door would have been red with a white 721 in it. If there is now a way to directly upload pictures I could post the most recent shots I have of both 667 and 721.

Later,

Dave
