Peter Marshall
Here's my entry - a nice late early Panther from the nice Dragon Premium kit with Fruilmodel tracks. Kit: Tracks: I will have to add some Zimmerit as the late D's had zimmerit but it's not molded on the kit. Anyway work started with the tracks, mainly to get them out of the way - so a weekends worth of filing, drilling and pinning and i've got this - 81 Links worth of right hand track - this should be the right length but i've still got spares - only another 81 to go for the other track. Stormbringer
Nice start so far. Friuls are tedious but Imho they're well worth it. Pete

Peter Marshall
Well I got the other track built up yesterday, so it's time to start on the kit. First start up all the running gear - all the wheels are simply slotted on at the moment Then start building up the rear plate with all of the PE - I stopped when I had had enough of PE for the day Peter

Peter Marshall
Today's work on the Panther - first finished off the PE on the rear end. Soldered together this time rather than using CA, which I found easier Next started work on the Glacis plate Added all the periscopes and hatches for the front portion Finally got the hull completed - just needed a little Mr Surfacer on some of the joints Tomorrow the turret, and probably paint Peter
robw_uk
very neat - I am struggling with that on my PE _ it goes together ok but is very fragile... need to learn to solder if I am going to do more of this (think the single small frets you get OOB should be ok, full set like the Eduard would be a struggle)
Peter Marshall
Today is brought to you by the letters T and Z T for Turret - the first part of the day was making up the turret, and soldering together the Smoke dishargers Then the letter Z - Zimmeritt, so out with Talc, Brass Rod, Milliput and Zimmerit tools. After four fun packed hours it's done, though i've managed to lose one of the smoke dischargers - i'll have another looks for it later, and if it doesn't turn up use the plastic ones. robw_uk
its a new britmodeller game - "spot the smoke discharger" - look at the 2 photos, first to find it wins something amazing... or perhaps not great work on the Zim... looking good
usetherudders
Great work as usual Pete, loving your work bench though
Peter Marshall
A quick update on my post-superbowl holiday - primer Using the Vallejo Polyurethane primer in Dunkengelb, which seems to work well Then sprayed just about everything in sight Peter
robw_uk
ahhhh - think mine looks a similar colour (just using the model color version... maybe the wheels a tad green on mine but will shake more for the chassis & gun.... looking good (and am looking forward to nicking weathering tips too)
Peter Marshall
Well today was mostly painting wheels and weathering. First I started by weathering the lower hull and picking out the springs Then after a lot of fiddling about got the road wheels on and weathered then added the tracks Peter
smuts
Hi Pete, Looks great, did you find the discharger in the end?, what did you use on the tracks? Andy.
Peter Marshall
No I didn't find the discharger so it's the plastic one on one side. I used blacken-it on the tracks then sanded the contact surfaces. I'll still be adding some more dirt later. Peter
robw_uk
What glue did you use on the tracks? I have a couple in the stash with individual links... Oh and nice work so far...
Peter Marshall
Rob, they are Fruimetal tracks, so they are all pinned
CliffB
Those tracks certainly do look effective - very nice indeed. Cliff
Peter Marshall
Today's work on the Panther, first adding the skirts after nibbling / bending at then a bit Then spraying the cammo - being an independent regiment the 24th used a non standard cammo scheme - less squiggles more slants :-) So on with the paint after masking the wheels off - used a combination of Model Air (euch), and Gunze (ahhh) Then a coat of klear over the top Peter
