Interesting article on the how the RAF Museum’s Junkers Ju 88 came to arrive in the UK in May 1943.  It mentions that other German aircraft landed in Britain during the war and took off again. Even mentions that the RAF did the same in Germany. Does anyone know any-more about it?

It might be worth your while searching the archives on 12 O'Clock High and Luftwaffe Experten Message Board.  This flight (and others) have been discussed and (IIRC) there was some doubt expressed over certain elements in the Hill book.  Hardly surprising given the circumstances surrounding it.

I remember reading "Reach for the Sky" (the Douglas Bader biography) and it says that after he was shot down, the Luftwaffe suggested his spare leg was delivered by a Lysander, with a British fighter escort being replaced by a German one in mid Channel.    The RAF reply was "no, we'll just drop it on a normal bombing raid" (which they did)

This seems to suggest the idea of landing on "the other side" was not unheard of but, like Gruffy, I would like to find out more.

The Hill book was published before R V Jones' "Most Secret War" (1978) and not long after Fred Winterbotham's "The Ultra Secret" (1974) so I am not surprised it is not the full story.

No, because it was met by Spitfires in the north of Scotland.  Well, off the Scottish coast anyway, it landed at Dyce.

IIRC, the comments raised were not about what was omitted from the Hill book, but what the author may have added.  But take that as a comment to look for, not as gospel.
