SaintsPhil
Fairly simple question! Will my airbrush (H&S Evo) be damaged by a soak, probably over night, in cellulose thinners? I know the seals might not make it, but it needs an over haul so I've got a full set of replacements waiting! Will it cause any other damage?? Thanks Phil
Stuart Wilson
I soaked my Badger 200 overnight in cellulose thinners (having disassembled it) a few months ago and there were no problems whatsoever. I don't know anything about your type of 'brush though Stuart
little-cars
Yes it has been known to damage the non ptfe seals, why not take all the seals off, including the needle seal of you want to soak it. But, be careful some cellulose thinners can strips off the plated finish of airbrushes. Personally I wouldn't soak it, just give it a thorough clean once totally dismantalled. SaintsPhil
Thanks guys, Paul, the seals have just about had it anyway, it was the coating I was more worried about, so maybe I'll go down the deep clean route. Many thanks Phil
turnerdad
The rubber seals tend to expand in celly thinners, just leave them for a few hours to shrink back. I've had the same seals in my airbrushes for years and use celly to clean them all the time and have never had to replace the seals (Iwata and Harder & Steenbeck). It's probably when peeps try to squeeze the o rings before they have shrunk back that causes them to disintegrate.
