Strange this one as the kinetic one is a fairly good kit if you cange the nose for the quickboost one.

I would much rather they did the RF in this scale, or the F-84F in 1.72 that really needs doing!!

Considering that Trumpeter/Hobbyboss have scaled up and down many of their kits, the possibility of a 1/72 F-84F in the future from the same group is not remote

Yes I've got the Italeri/Kinetic F-84 and it is nice [despite the intake issues] but the Heller RF-84F is only available here in New Zealand via Ebay really and the prices being asked when postage is included are pretty horrendous, so a newer RF would be most welcome. I hope these two issues signal a Hobbyboss dive into 1950s/60s US jets as Trumpeter have done with FAA/early Cold War UK jets????

I think the guy who does them is on this forum somewhere. And I agree it's a very nice box art. :D

Hello Mozzy19,

Indeed the box art looks very good indeed! But i did not painted this one! I think is mr Birdy Chang,a chineese guy! There are 7 illustrators in Trumpeter-Hobby Boss Companies, including myself!!

Great Box art! I hope also the kit to be as good!! Regards

Think I need at least two. One of them normal USAF or European cols and one as a MiG 15 from The Hunters.

My conclusion, after looking at the "test shot" graphic displayed at the show, plus other "rumors" from early in 2013: This appears to me to be a re-release of the Kinetic kit with added PE. Is the lemon-mouth intake corrected? I can't tell from the "test shot" graphic. What I can tell is the the incorrect panel line above the wing that is mistakenly copied from the RF-84F, is still present. I.e., no matter how, supposedly, "new" or "improved" this release is, nothing has changed. That is, the homework/research to make a correct Thunderstreak has not been done. More evidence that it is just the Kinetic with window-dressing? The box art shows the same tail number and markings as the original Monogram "silver" release. Considering all the possible choices for Thunderstreak markings and they copy the Monogram?! Caveat emptor.

I've notice several comments from some that seem to think the Kinetic (which was that used in the Italeri kits) was a pretty good kit. Sorry, but it is a lemon from the intake aft. Incorrect intake for starters, incorrect panel lines, panel lines suitable as moats for protecting castles, soft details, copycat of much of Mongram with poorly copied Tamiya Thunderjet gun bay, etc. The Kinetic kit simply was not worth buying. The only saving grace of the Italeri release was the wonderful decals. There are some minor parts of the Heller F-84F that are more accurate than the Monogram, but it is otherwise seriously lacking in detail. The Monogram kit may not be state of the art but it is still the best Thunderstreak kit in 48th scale.

As for the Hobbyboss F-84F, I'm not harboring any illusions that it will be other than more window-dressing of the Kinetic kit.

Without seeing any sprue shots I am not sure how you say that.

As far as I am aware these two companies have no tie ins, and the kinetic kit was already released by Italeri.

Though looking at the CAD and box art it looks like a lemon intake on this one as well.

We really need to see some sprue shots.
