foxy
Yep thats a gem of a ship in that scale. Very nice Nick, or should I say stunning. As you say theres alot of stuff there. Are you having crew also.
nick
Are you having crew also. Good question. I have an interesting technique for painting small scale figures en masse that I may try out. Basically paint them black, dry brush white then add flesh tone washes. Surprisingly effective when you've hundreds of the buggers. Watch this space. If they don't look convincing I won't bother. Nick
nick
Got a bit more done today, just boats and aircraft to go now. And the railings. Oh yeah and some rigging - for which I have not much in the way references. Don't suppose anyone has any form of rigging diagram for this beast, there does seem to be a lot of it. If all else fails, I may have a crack at drawing myself. I'll put some fotos up tomorrow Nick

Screech
Nick, You posted this: Posted 24 February 2013 - 04:08 PM "The monster build continues. There’s nothing particularly difficult about this, there’s just a bloody lot of it." Okay, in my honest opinion for you folks that have the patience to do all that beautiful work in photoetch and ship building my hat is off to you! That truly is one remarkable build in progress! I am definately going to follow this one to the bittersweet end. Cheers,
nick
Some good progress today, despite deciding to give the workshop a major spring clean blitz in the middle of it. Murdo
Good grief Nick! That's amazing work!! I started on page one and had a moment. This progressed to then very quickly became I thought "Wow! I'd love to build that!" This was almost instantly followed by "Don't be stupid, you don't have the patience and it would drive you insane!" I'm really looking forward to seeing the rest of the build.
nick
Would this be CAD or real drawing Nick? If it's the latter, give me a call. Chris. Chris, I suspect back of fag packet, old fashioned actual drawing. The best ref I've got is the painting that is the box art believe it or not. At least it's big and I won't need a magnifier! Thanks for the offer, I'll see how I get on, but will probably end up with a few sketches rather than a proper drawing. Nick

Brad
Holy poo-poo, this is kick bottom! I was half tempted to drop 300 bucks on the 1/200 Bismarck just recently, but came to the realisation that I have nowhere to put my 1/32 Heinkel 111 so there was going to be nowhere for a ship that big. Thought I'd finished about 5 times and kept finding bits I'd missed, in fact I still haven't finished the anchors. Proper photos tomorrow in RFI. richtea
That is one stunning Arizona Nick, as for the last few bits, it's like painting the Forth Rail Bridge, you get to one end then start again at the other end touching up here or there, finding bits that want straightening or a flag that won't hang right.
