nick
Hi all this is my first AFV Club kit. I've had it for ages and didn't realise how good it was.I've added fruil tracks and brass Besas. Bit of scratch building for the tool tie downs, springs etc, but mostly OOB. the suspension is fully workable and sprung by the way!Going for a small dio base as well. Ikea picture frame, foam, plaster, static grass, bit of PE etcThanks for lookingNick Edited January 10, 2013 by nick

Stormbringer
Very nice indeed. How well do the friuls fit on the AFV Club Churchill? I have the mk VI here to do and am seriously thinking about fitting a set. Pete
foxy
I did not say it was good or bad Nick, 'just different'. keep your hair on mate. . AS a diorama its very good and stands out well. Just not seen one with no paint on. In the ship area you do see this. I have this kit and other churchills and found like you they go together well and the suspention is great for dioramas as you can lift the track more easier. Great idea you have here. Not faulting it lol Edited January 5, 2013 by foxy

They fit the sprockets fine, but end up either slightly tight, compressing the end bogies a bit, or slightly slack if you add a link. Otherwise really good. I will be chemically rusting them next, so have just given them a good scrub and letting them dry overnight. So in fact, I won't be painting them after all! Doh. nick
Right primer on, love this suspension. If you want to model springs, you can't beat, well, springs. You can stick this moulded stuff it never looks right. Here's the besa's I adapted. And the tie downs I scratched. The tracks are pickling as we speak. and in true Blue Peter Tradition, here's some I prepared earlier (for a panther) there is no paint or washes, powder, pigment or anything on these tracks. Theay are just pickled and given a rub over with scotchbrite to highlight the bare metal areas of wear, this is the great thing about metal tracks! Also here are some closeups of my base, I've been trying to make copper beech saplings (out of brass ironically!). OK I should get out more I know. Still working on this guy too. Thanks for looking Nick Edited January 6, 2013 by nick

Malcolm Shaw
Nice work. Just one thing to say...the Mk111`s didn`t have the mud-scraper fitted. Edited January 7, 2013 by Malcolm Shaw
nick
Tonight I've been mostly painting exhausts and shovels. I'm trying to trick myself here by doing these first as after I have weathered the tank I can never be bothered giving them proper attention. Doh ! I've given the game away now by telling me what I'm doing. bugger. Anyway considering I'm making it up as I go along, quite pleased with exhausts. If anyone knows how to do shovels properly, please tell me, I've resorted to caking them with mud which is a cop out. Still tweaking the paint on this fella too, nearly there?
