Edge
Hi & Happy New Year folks! Spotted whilst browsing HLJ site, listed for January release is a Platz 1/72 Sea King AEW.2. From the box art it appears to be the Cyber Hobby kit and comes with a small etch fret from Eduard. The cost is listed as 3,120y which comes out around £22. Harry Lime
Still £22 too much for a not very accurate kit! (If it is indeed the Cyberhobby plastic in the box) Mark.
Edge
IIRC someone here was looking at producing a conversion for the Revell kit to produce an HC.4. Perhaps an accurate AEW. 2 will follow?
Colin @ Freightdog Models
Bad news chaps, I think thats the price of the colour etch ONLY! its listed as a '1/72 Sea King AEW.2 Falklands War & Detail Parts Set', although misleading as it does also mention as an injection moulded model kit further down. Yes, one of our members in working on some sets to do that. He is currently a maintainer on the HC.4 fleet, so I'm expecting good things from them! Revell already an AEW version of their Sea King. You just need to have a look out for the Sea King AEW/HAS boxing from a while back. Comes with everything you need in the box, the only drawback being that the radome is depicted as an inflated one. Colin £22 for an etch set in 1/72? Seems a little on the steep side to me if that's the case!

I thought it a little misleading as there's no image of the platic, but the description, as you rightly say, states kit plus detail parts set! Thanks Harry - I'll keep my eyes peeled for the Revell kit for the AEW version.
Geoff_B
Yeap avoid the Cyberhobby kit they just supplied the sponsons and the radomes to their HC-4 kit. Therefore no interior avionics, no door with cut out for the AEW Radome mount, no deflated radome, some of the fitting are a mix and match of HC4 & AEW2 stuff (the HC4 kit had some AEW2 bits applied) plus of course the decal options and kit are more late 1990's than 1982 so way off a 'Falkland War' machine !!!!. Yeap get the Revell kit if you can spot it, the current boxing the German MK41 special scheme only has the HAS6 parts and not the AEW bits, it also looks like is being delisted if in the sale at Modelzone so if you want a Sea king for the eventual conversion sets then i suggest people stock up now as we can never be sure when a version of the kit will be re-issued especially as the type is now being replaced and phased out by its users !!!. Edge
Just found & bought a Revell HAS6/AEW kit from a well known auction site for £10.
Harry Lime
Just found & bought a Revell HAS6/AEW kit from a well known auction site for £10. A bargain! Now, if you can get an Airfix AEW2/ASaC7 dirt cheap (less than a fiver including postage would be the ideal), you'll have an outstanding set of decals to put on the Revell one... Mark.
