the kit nose is seriously lacking in detail and what is there is dubious

a statement that can be applied to most of the rest of the kit too.

I just got my hands on another kit and sometime in the not too distant future I shall be attacking it with glee.  Now that I have the printer, there's a bunch of stuff on there I've avoided on previous builds that can be corrected or improved upon.

I'm looking forward to seeing yours kick off again when you're ready Colin

Thanks Alan, Now that sounds interesting, the tailwheel yolk for starters, then the cockpit seats, the cabin seats, the SACRU as you crabs called it, main and tail rotor heads...

Stop me! Oh, and a sheet of stencil detail decals.

I may well be in bed when ne Year strikes...

Not so. Firstly the Italeri Wessex series are the only ones available in 1/48th scale, discounting the grim offering from Revell. Which is a tarted up H-34!

Yes the HU Mk5 is lacking in accuracy and detail but the overall shape is correct. Using the 4+ Publications drawings, I enlarged them to 1/48th scale. The panel lines for the Wessex differ from those of the H-34, so yes there are inaccuracies, hence my filling and re-scribing them.

The tooling is now over forty years old, so yes the detail is not as crisp as a modern kit. We're talking modelling here not kit bashing (OOB).

The latest release from Italeri is the H-34 and it is a lot crisper than the Wessex 5.

Stick with me, I will plug away...

I didn't realise this started so long ago colin. Hope you get some progress on it soon, look forwards to seeing you perform your magic on it :)

Hi Neil. I hadn't either just shows how time can get away from you!

I'm in the middle of an H-34 GB at IPMS Cape Peninsula at present, waiting for decals and PE from the Big H. Bit like a Wessex but with a piston engine.
