Wez
Hi all, Once I've finished my RF-84G, I'm thinking of filling the time before Airfix's Vampire T.11 comes out making the Revell/Italeri 1/72nd kit of the Douglas Invader as a target tug. The actual subject I want to do is a Chilean aircraft but the target tug conversion was widely used. Does anybody know how the target towing bridle was attached, does anybody have any links to pictures or details? Did Chile use a different arrangement to other operators? I've tried the usual internet resources and drawn a blank, hence the question. Many thanks. Wez

Biggles
Chilean target tug bridles? I think this one is a bit esoteric even for Britmodeller! If you find anything out this could be a bestseller if you publish it! Anyway, I've not much idea either I would imagine that Chile would use a 'standard' bridle as I believe their drogues are of standard tubular or 'flag' design. As for the fit to the Invader - have you tried looking at companies like AirSpray of Canada? Whilst their Invaders were used for fire bombing there is something in the back of my mind that says one or two were also used as target tugs. However, I did find the following site which has some Invader tug pics - including a Chilean Invader: http://napoleon130.tripod.com/id640.html (Sorry, I haven't the faintest idea how to link to this site!) However, if you have not already seen it, the images on there may help. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.
Wez
Biggles, You're a top banana that's what you are! That link is extremely helpful - thank you! Coincidentally, the Chilean Invader on that site is the very beastie I'm planning to do. The photo two below the Chilean one is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you PanzerPaulo, you top banana (I'm hoping that's NOT an insult in Chile - it's a good thing in the UK). Any help would be gratefully appreciated. This is why I like Britmodeller so!
