Personalised BSG Viper MKII - something different

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

I'm back for the last one of the year - after sitting on the bench for almost twice as long......

This is my version of the BSG Viper. It's just something different to the usual builds of these. I sat on this for ages trying to think of a color scheme that I thought would look cool. Something that could compliment the sleek lines of the craft.

Something other than dirty white.

Then a few weeks ago, quite by accident, I bought a bottle of Tamiya's Dark Iron (thinking it was Rubber Black), and ended up using it on something else. When I looked at the color, it was nearly perfect for the color I was looking for. After a little bit of mixing different shades of other paints, I finally found a color I liked. I originally had a complete over-all tiger scheme in mind but I felt it was too complex to spray with my skills, so I passed on it. However, I came across a decal sheet I forgot I had which had tiger stripes on it. Perfect! I knew where I wanted them too which made the final part go so well.

I scratch built 2 new rear fins and added canards (just because I think canards are cool) plus stuck in some brass rod and stretched sprue for some extra plumbing. I didn't paint the brass rods because I liked the effect they have with the engines.

Thanks for your feedback fellas, greatly appreciated. The decals aren't from

a Revell kit, they are from a small AM decal maker. Not sure which though as they were part of a large stash I had been given a while ago.

I need to add some serial numbers though, something I over looked in error

thanks for the kind words fellas - most appreciated.

This was going to be an all-over, multi shade black and be Batman's new toy, but I changed my mind when I found Tamiya's Dark Iron.
