Sean_M Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 (edited) Hi, I am finally back and after a few hectic weeks I got back to the Modelling bench. I had a Tamiya Mk I spit out. However I saw I had 2 Airfix Hurri and that is what I have gone with. So far I have re-scribed the raised panel line on the wings. I compared this to a Hasegawa Kit I have. It seems that there are more panel lines on the Hasegawa Kit. However I did notice that this is a IID wing. Has anyone got a decent sketch/plan of the Pane lines for a metal Mk 1 wing. I have looked through all my books but there is nothong suitable to work from. Thanks Sean Edited December 23, 2012 by Sean_M
JackG Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Several line drawings here: http://www.aer.ita.br/~bmattos/mundo/ww2/hurricane_scale.htm Will require someone more familiar with the Hurricane to vouch for the accuracy. regards, Jack

The forum never ceases to amaze me for knowledge
Troy Smith Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 (edited) Hi Sean I don't know about these, but you can check them if you have a graphics program. Many many hurricane drawings are a bit off, as the ones given out in good faith by Hawkers etc were off. This came to light when A.L Bentley drew his in 1979, and took his form the actual production sub assemblies, not the GA drawings. I made a post on this here somewhere. So the 'gold standard' in Hurricane drawings are the A.L.Bentley ones see http://www.albentley...m/hurricane.htm These are lo-res, but are good enough to see the panel lines. Or to check the other drawings againts if you have a graphics program. I don't hvae time to do this right now. the panel lines on a hasegawa 'IID' wing [it's in fact a IIC] will be different, or do you just mean more panel lines? Model kits can be decieving, have a look at these pics, http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/mark_hayward/hurricane_iia/ they super size, the plane is a IIB, not a IIA BTW, apart from the longer nose, deeper radiator and outer gun positions, the rest is the same as a late MkI. For an earlier Mk I, Here's the Finnish plane. http://www.pienoisma...eferenssi_1536/ http://www.pienoisma...eferenssi_1295/ Lots of close ups. Search in the WWI section, as there's plenty of info. Nte, it seems Hurricnes up to maybe 1942 had aluminium painted interior framework, again, there are pics of the Finnish Hurri insides posted here. HTH T Edited December 23, 2012 by Troy Smith
Sean_M Posted December 23, 2012 Author Posted December 23, 2012 Thanks Troy. I doubt that I will get it all exact. You will have gathered I am using a very old Arfix 1:48 kit. I just want to put in some of the misisng detail and at that scale if I get close then I am happy. I have lots of photos etc. I would love to get benleys plans, just a little broke with all the xmas shopping
