Revell 1:144 VIIc

Recommended Posts

Right.. I've decided to call this one done for now. I really need more practice with nautical subjects, so I'll quit while I'm ahead. I've purposely left off the life buoys and rigging. The former because I really didn't fancy painting tiny red horseshoes, and the latter because I don't have anything to hand that'll do the rigging any justice. I've got some carbon fibre rod to make a more free standing base for this thing, instead of the bench vice that Revell gives you.. That'll follow soonish..

But for now, here's the fish:

I like the frames showing through the hull plating forward and aft.... very realistic touch.... also the intersection welds (cruciform butts) look as if they've been cut out and rewelded during construction - it's highly likely this would have happened. The overall effect is spot on...

Thanks chaps!

Karel, I've been paying attention to what you've been advising people, and tried to keep the rust above where I reckoned the water line would be. I used white oils to beat back the hefty rust and give it a nice salty feel..

Mister Surveyor, I weathered this using other peoples builds and a bit of educated guess work. So everything you've mentioned is entirely coincidental, and makes me happy I got it right!
