Advice please - Best P-38 Lightning in 1:48 scale ?

Hi there

I'm looking to do an early P-38 Lightning (P-38F) in 1:48 scale and cannot decide between a Hasegawa kit with some aftermarket......cockpit detail set and wheels or the 'new' Eduard re-issue of the Academy kit with all of the detail goodies already included. I seem to recall reading good and bad about each of these kits so it would be nice to receive some collective guidance on the best one to go for. I'm not a rivet counter but I would like to know a little about buildability and accuracy.

I've never built one but apparently the Academy kit is the better one to go with as I believe the Hasegawa kit has issues with lining up the tail booms.

I have built the academy kit and its not bad! I seem to remember a couple of fit issues around where the boom joins the rest of the fuse but nothing to difficult to fix

Remember the Eduard kit, is the Academy kit with loads of very nice resin improvements, etch, mask and Cartograf decals.

Id go for the Eduard one as it is the Academy kit which bulids up pretty good and you get extras too, but watch the tail booms they can be tricky to fit and line up.
