Graham Boak
lt seems that such firms often go through a range of crises: many then-veteran wargamers were alienated by GW's switch to supporting only their own ranges of pure fantasy. It certainly proved much more popular! However I know of one gamer/modeller who has not gone "back to the tradition" but has concentrated on improving his figure painting skills, Figure modelling always ran alongside the plane/ship/tank side and has even grown more prominent with the popularity of steampunk as a subject. I think you're right to look beyond the plastic kit side - there's still a lot of modelling going on out there outside our particular niche. dfqweofekwpeweiop4
I've given up on GW now, been trying to sell off my stuff for the last year to get money for stuff I actually still want. It's too expensive, the game's gone bad (40K that is), it purely just feels like they are inventing more and more stuff to make you part with money rather than supporting and building the hobby. Value for money they most certainly aren't. Forge World are the best part or GW and make the more interesting stuff but that's even more expensive! Back to AZ - keep up the good work with the 109's and the KP La-5's! thanks Mike

Haven't read any hoorays for the new Bf 109 upper cowling with openings for guns, and separate mg barrels to insert there. I believe that's a first in this true scale and really deserves respect. 👍. Graham Boak
Possibly because they are present on Fine Molds Bf109G-10 already? Presumably also on other versions in their range. Good addition anyway. Edited January 20, 2016 by Graham Boak

Duncan B
Yep, all the Finemolds 109s have separate cowling and guns. (And accurate engraved hatches etc too!) Duncan B
Denford
Yep, all the Finemolds 109s have separate cowling and guns. (And accurate engraved hatches etc too!) Duncan B True: but now very hard to find, and rather expensive too.
Graham Boak
Certainly expensive, but if you want accurate Bf109s then they are the kits to buy. As for hard to get - that's the way things are nowadays. As I said a few postings up, nowadays the choice is immense "- providing that you buy it when it comes out rather than putting it off for another day". A quick check shows that some of them are still available from HobbyLink Japan, including the Regensberg-built G-10.
Work In Progress
Yes, I for one am keenly and occasionally sadly aware that most of my stash is stuff I thought I needed to get now in case I want it in the future and then can't find it anywhere else. Even big-maker stuff like Airfix, Revell, Monogram, Hasegawa, Tamiya.
Graham Boak
I can live fairly comfortably with a large stash, even when they are no longer the current "kits if choice" for the subject. After all, without a few Heller Bf109s tucked away I'd be buying more expensive modern ones. I'm most unhappy about my stash of older MPM-family kits where the transparencies have yellowed, and there are no true alternatives. For example, those NA-57s I laid down as a future source of BTs, NJs, Yales etc....
Duncan B
I got another Finemolds Bf109G recently from HLJ and it was less than £15 including the postage which I thought was very reasonable indeed. I have lost count of how many Finemolds 109s I actually have but at a guess I'd say somewhere in the region of 15 - 20 (maybe I'm the reason they are rare!). I have done a few crash-moulds to replace such things but it's not always easy. My stash is starting to crowd me: I think I feel a cull coming on. But judging future whim is hard.
Graham Boak
One point of a stash is to forestall future whims. I'm currently working on two Ar96B kits from the stash, in advance of the new Special Hobby Ar96A arriving at my LHS. If my future whim is to specialise in Eddie Stobart trucks, then I'm in trouble.
sroubos
I've always held off buying the Finemolds kits as I've been thinking there surely must come along a better series of 109s. I've been waiting for a few years now, so perhaps I will have to buy one. I fully expect Eduard or Tamiya to announce a full series of F/G/Ks the day after I get it. As far as I know Eduard is planning to release Bf 109G (and maybe F and K) in the future...but we'll have to wait very long...at least according to Vladimir Sulc. And Tamiya...well they protect their planss better than Uncle Sam protects gold in Ford Knox.

TonyTiger66
Hi, Very much looking forward to Dewiotine 500 series. I like the finer panel lines on AZ/Kopro kits...please don't change. At the moment some manufacturers are really doing panel lines too deep, real planes just don't look like that. As a consequence, models look wrong Hope that one day maybe AZ consider Breguet 19 and/or Potez 25. So many schemes to choose from, I'm sure they would sell well.
