Revell A319 Germanwings 1/144 (yes, another one)

Hey there!

Yet another one Revell Airbus here.

Things are gonna happen really slow not only because i'm retarded, but also because all the additional parts are travelling across the world with the sloooow post services.

Particulary the wings with the deployed flaps and slats were ordered at the contrails in the middle of november (expecting delivery any day now) and the wonderful Bearbus decal (D-AKNO former livery that always made me smile some days in the UUWW) ordered at the end of september, well is considered lost and since Gaston from Nazca decals is really rare to give a reply (1 out of 3 letters) i have no clue what time will i get it.

The kit surprised me being so small after working with rather big birds like B767-300 and A330-300.

Following that i was further surprised to see separate nav lights of clear plastic that A330 didn't have. Hmm.

But anyway the kit proved to be nice and easy so far.

Since the wings are apparently on hold i decided to start with the rest of the fuselage and engines to be on the safe side.

You might have already guessed it would be gear down and flaps full config for the final approach (oh, fingers crossed)

and this is how the assembly looks now, some parts just clicked in together

Well yet to come are the stab wing, landing gear, and today i'm going to the paint shop to try to get some correct colours

...And patient waiting for the wings and decals.

He-Hey!

Well, long time no see.

I was just wondering how redicolously long the post package can go.

So it is. The Contrails package ordered mid november arrived mid february.

So, wonderful things happen.

Unpacking.

setting up right wing. slats, speed brakes and flaps.

speed brakes were made flush on my request by Michael from the Contrails, thanks for that.

making flaps down proved to be more difficult than i thought.

everything required cutting fitting, glueing, sanding, cutting, even tearing off...

still they appearing far from the perfect yet a good expierence to me

Well, that's all for now.

The nazca decals are a nightmare story.

Little that it never came since september, but the feedback is awful, i wrote some 10 letters and received very few replies

So, the beat goes on!

Thanks everyone!

I'm trying to make some more progress before i'm off to France on my vacation on Saturday.

Looks good from here. How big will this be when built? Length x width etc in cms or inches.

It'll be quite small, you can count yourself, A319 is 33.8 meters long so in 1/144 scale that would be about 23 centimeters or roughly 9 inches, if i got it right.

Sad news: while awaiting the contrails package for three months the windscreen is now missed in action (

I'm suspicious for my cat.

Any thoughts?

My only plan is to make it of paper.

So the fake cockpit work was all to no avail.

Still waiting for that Nazca decal. This is AWFUL story.

I will make a posting about that...Really pisses me off.

If they never arrive i will wash it off totally and will make a Swiss livery...

I became really tired of that.

To end on the high note - i couldn't help myself but make this photo

Yes, those are RB211 engines from the 757 :pilot:

Well, don't know what to say. I'm on a kind of crossroad now.

Bearbus decals never made it to me, now it must be declared officially.

The straight solution for that is to order some other decals (Swiss presumably) from some trusted place and tear off all that paint.

The good point off this is that i can review the airframe again and make some quick fixes.

The bad point off it is that a hell lot of time-consumed work goes to trash.

We all have bad days, but this have been a very long bad day with this kit.

Okay guys, just a quick update 7 years later.

The project didn't actually stall but had a tough life.

I've got it finished and smashed off the shelf accidentally during a home party. So it stood broken to pieces for years as a reminder for me to repair it. The lockdown came and I'm back into assembling kits with a couple of new projects AND I've finally glued back all the damage on the Bearbus which was sooo satisfying although I'm not really happy with the result. It still lacks gear bay doors, one winglet was made of polystyrene (courtesy of the cream cheese pack).

Excuses aside, I really want to finish the topic
