Fifer54
Is it really that time of year again? Obviously it is! My modelling gets more prolific, with 31 completed this year. My move to 1/144 has helped this, as has my "careless and impatient kit assembler" approach to modelling! Here goes . . . In no particular order Revell's 1/144 AH-64D Longbow Apache and their F-117A Stealth in the same scale and their 1/72 "Eye of the Tiger" Tornado IDS And another Revell 1/144 model, a Eurofighter JF90 (not quite a Typhoon!) Hobbycraft's 1/144 MiG-25 Foxbat graced my workbench The HobbyBoss 1/72 Sea Hawk was a nice little kit Another Revell 1/72 Tornado, the "Black Thunder" boxing The Zvezda Il-2 Shturmovik in 1/144 made a tiny model A biplane GB had me producing Revell's 1/72 Fokker D.VII The Matchbox 1/144 F/A-18 Hornet was a horrid little flash-covered worn-moulded disaster! And now I've run out of photos for one post, so I'll carry on in Part 2 next!
Fifer54
Moving swiftly on . . . The Airfix 1/144 F-20 Tigershark was another horrid little kit from worn-out moulds In contrast, the Italeri 1/72 Tornado IDS in their "Panteri Nero" boxing was a fun build! Airfix's venerable 1/72 DHC-1 Chipmunk was also a fun build. Revell's 1/144 MiG-23 Flogger was a primitive kit with no cockpit or undercarriage doors! Dragon's 1/144 Tornado F.3 was another nice kit . . . The Revell 1/72 Ju87G spent ages on my bench waiting for me to get some motivation! Crown's 1/144 P-38 Lightning was a blast from the past. The same manufacturer's P-47D Thunderbolt and Revell's F6F Hellcat in the same scale went together very quickly. Another 1/144 kit was Revell's Tornado GR.1 in the 27 squadron 75th Anniversary boxing. I like my special scheme Tonkas! Another 1/144 special scheme was on Revell's F-15A Eagle And that's all for part 2! Part 3 follows straight away . . .
Fifer54
OK, here's Part 3! The most recently finished model was for the "What-if 2" GB. It's the De Havilland Bisquito F.3 Back to 1/144 for the Airfix MiG-21, finished as a Hungarian machine Revell's 1/48 F-5F was another fun build and a lovely colour scheme For the Malta 1940-42 GB, a Nachtjaeger Me110C from the 1/72 Airfix kit This year's only armour build was Revell's 1/35 Sherman Calliope Airfix's 1/48 B-57 Canberra was, I think, my favourite build for 2012. An Airfix Vought Kingfisher in Russian markings was an unusual subject. The inspiration for the DH Bisquito (see above) was this little beauty, the DH Dagenham (2 stops past Barking!) built for a GB elsewhere . . . The HobbyBoss 1/72 MiG-15UTI Mongol was a fun build, she's finished in Iraqi markings. And last in my report, but actually my first completed model of this year was the Revell/Monogram 1/48 Dornier D0335A-12, finished as a Luftwaffe '46 operational nightfighter. Well, there we are, a vast quantity of low quality models as usual. The careless and impatient kit assembler carries on. On my bench at the moment is an Academy 1/144 Su-25 Frogfoot, which may or may not be finished before Hogmanay. If she's done, I'll post it! pte1643
Someone's been a busy boy. 144th... Mental... I doubt I could even see a 144th fighter.
Natter
A very busy year. The 144th seem to be a mixed bag of good quality kits and not so good mouldings. I think you have done very well to make anything at all of the Revell Mig-23 and the Airfix Tigershark. That F-5 is a beauty. Dave
Parabat
A productive and colourful year Gaz, nicely done! The Pfeil looks great, I had no idea it was quite as big as it appears here. Seem to be a few people moving over to 1/144 around BM.
Fifer54
Since I finished what I thought would be the last model for 2012, 4 more kits have passed across the Gaz workbench. So, with no more modelling to do this year, here are this year's final models from me! the Minicraft 1/144 Heinkel He111H-6 is a pleasant little kit, with 2 colour scheme options in the box. Must get more of these, I believe there's a resin Zwilling conversion available . . . Two Hawker fighters came next: first Revell's MicroWings 1/144 Typhoon, a flash-ridden, ill-fitting, horrid little kit with a lovely decal sheet! And then the old Crown Tempest (I think its a Mk.V), which is a lovely simple little kit with a horrible decal sheet consisting of 6 RAF roundels. And then finally, built for 2 GBs on Mainly Military and RevellAtions, Revell's 1/144 Tornado GR.1, built as a Gulf War bird, specifically ZA447 Mig Eater . Modelled equipped with JP233s from the Freightdog Gulf War Weapons set, finished in the KitsWorld Gulf War Tornados decals, this was a real pleasure to build. So there we are, a prolific year indeed. 35 completed, Now for next year! I hope to revisit 1/48 to return to my "WW2 fighter planes" modelling roots, and extend my Tornado collection in various scales, oh, and sign up for fewer Group builds . . .
