JMChladek
Wow, that is a handy bit of kit with THAT kit! I'm glad they packed a bunch of details into it, given its size and price.
ghaynes
A brief update. Well, the fuselage was an absolute struggle to get together and I don't really know why. I had to work from the rear and move towards the nose - aligning, gluing, taping or clamping as I went. After some fettling with part 5E, the nose bulkhead, all went together fine. If I ever build one of these again (which I doubt!), I would add this part after the fuselage halves were together and not before, as the instructions suggest. In the process of filling and sanding the fuselage seam the compass (part 85L) removed itself from the cockpit and was eaten by the carpet monster. I have emailed Airfix this morning requesting a replacement. Hopefully it will turn up soon although it will require some keyhole surgery to fit it! Photos to follow tonight. Cheers. ghaynes
Here are some pics as promised. The current state of play.... Spot the missing compass. Incidentally I received an email back from Airfix Customer Support 20 minutes after I emailed them, saying the replacement part had been dispatched! That is fantastic service The troublesome nose bulkhead That's all for now. Graham Edited December 13, 2012 by ghaynes
ghaynes
The good news is that I received the missing compass from Airfix the following day! That is excellent customer service! Thank you Airfix . Right then....who knows what these are and what they will be used for? Graham
ghaynes
Answer:.........drawing pins with the pin removed. Here is what I am using them for: Airfix don't provide reflector assemblies for the underwing lights and in this scale something needs to be added. Neal
Graham, nice idea with the drawing pins. The whole model is coming on exceptionally well.
ghaynes
A few more photos from me. The reinstated compass complete with an Airscale decal. I also added an Airscale decal to the drift indicator (the white-faced instrument at the front, right of the cockpit. Another Airscale addition. This time the tuning scale on the radio receiver. Much better than the kit decal. Graham Edited December 17, 2012 by ghaynes

ghaynes
Another brief photo update. Can't see me progressing much more over the Christmas period as the missus will want the kitchen table back! Added the radio transmitter to the cockpit rear decking...out of sequence according to the instructions but I couldn't resistI Got a couple of Airscale dials to add to the transmitter. Also added the Paragon ID lights to the underside of the fuselage That's all for now. Hope every one has a great Christmas and I will resume the build in the New Year. Cheers.
