Airfix 1/24 Mossie + Extras

Recommended Posts

Well I'll give it a go. Not a clue where I'll put it if I finish it!

Here's what I've got to work with. Realised I'd picked up two sets of Master .303s when I went to Hannants. One must have been put in the wrong bin as I definitely picked up what I thought was a set of Hispanos as well. Anyway, I now have a set of Hispanos as well.

Not a clue what aircraft I'll be building yet. Picked up the Xtradecal sheet when I was last in Hannants and the Banff one with the D-Day strips looks promising.....then there's the temperate land scheme version... :hmmm:

I've also got one of these in the stash, and was planning on painting it as RS619 (LA-F) of 235 Squadron at Banff. I wanted to fit the rockets and do D-Day stripes, and this seems the best one for it.

it's quite colourful for a Mossie, and you get to show off the exhaust stubs too (most FB.ivs have flame dampeners)

Cheers mate. Will let you know.

By the way, I live about 5 minutes away from the Yorkshire air museum (home to Tony Agars Mosquito), and am long overdue a visit. If you need pictures of any particular parts of the the Mosquito ill try and get them for you.

I think some photos of the Merlin installation would be handy...particularly the colours of the block and rocker covers.

I'm away in Germany until Monday morning, though I might be able to go on Monday morning as I'll be passing. I'll let you know.

Edit - I might be able to go in the morning actually, stay tuned.

Cheers. No immediate hurry though as I won't be building the Merlins for a while.

Thanks Peter. I hope to post an update later today. Have made some good progress this week. My wife will be glad when it's finished as I've taken over the entire kitchen table. It's far too cold to be outside in the Man Cave! :)

Cheers.

Graham

Good luck Graham. I'm a small-scale guy, but anyone tackling the big Moz deserves maximum respect. If only for flying in the face of legitimate concerns about real estate.

A bit of an update from me. Most of the work has been concentrated on the cockpit.

Didn't bother filling in the injection pin marks here as they won't be seen when the fuel tanks are installed

That's it for now. Hope to get the fuselage together at the weekend.

The only things not in the kit are the harnesses for the seats, which are Eduard. Every thing else is OOB.

Great work on the cockpit! Are the cables etc part of the kit or is it all scratched?

I'd love to get started on mine, but want to become semi- competent with an air gun first! :)

Thanks guys.

Well I've been evicted from the kitchen table for the weekend but I managed to get the fuselage together before I packed up. Will hopefully resume on Monday! Apologies for the crap photo but I was in a hurry when I took it! :)
