Gary West
I built this a couple of years ago but wasn't really convinced, so the weekend before last out came the Oven cleaner and now here she is in a brighter scheme. That makes Lightning No7 in the collection now and the very first clean one! Edited November 26, 2012 by Gary West

bentwaters81tfw
Proper Lightnings are NMF. Good call. Though the last one I ever saw fly was a camo T-Bird at Mildenhall just before they retired them.

Gary West
Very nice indeed, how did the conversion fit the base kit? Thanks everyone This of course is the Aeroclub coversion re sold with some very tidy resin cockpit parts under the Neomega branding. The fit was good - when mating the kits fuselage to the conversion initially there was a ridge as a result of the front end being slight wider than the Airfix fuselage. Sanding both halves of the front end resolved that easy enough. My only word of caution is the canopy. When painting do not work to the frame moulded onto the clear plastic of the front sheild, because I did and it didnt look right at all - I stripped it and worked to photos (should have done that in the first place anyway) and straight away it looked so much better. Just realised Ive left of the wing tip lights and the aerials on the spine - oops!
Silver Fox
I hadn't realised it had a basis in the Aeroclub set, I built my T4 from that set many moons ago and it did fit very nicely. Thanks for the info, maybe it is time for revisiting the Lightning.

Gary West
MIssiles are Red Tops not Firestreaks! Yeah I got lazy having already had the Firestreaks ready from the previous build! Assuming all the Binbrook units re-located to Coningsby, I bet that made for a very active base, a true "fighter Town". Phantoms of 228 OCU, 29 and then the Lightnings. Happy days.
