foxy
Well I have started this Ship on another forum(Model Warship.com) but thought this would help others here with this build. I am doing the ship waterline(on a base) and so had to cut down to sea level. This was easy as theres a groove to keep you in line. Here you can see I have strengthened the base with two layers of Black plastic in this case, but you can use any colour. Also put more bars for strength in. This shows the Base it will be attached to. Also Have sprayed Halfords plastic paint after fitting brass guns to the secondry armament(Pontos) It makes a good start and cover for most ships I have built. Next I marked out the ship outline with a pencil for later. Then added some Kitchen towel soaked in watered down PVA and layed around the pencil mark. More later. foxy
Great to see you Iain and Mike onboard. This is only my second build useing waterlined, all others have been full hull. The Pontos add on as you know Mike is fantastic and all fits like a glove. The resin to is very accurate and you get lots of differant aspects of the hobby in one build. My only downside is the rigging, I have purchased some EZ line from little cars at Yeovilton, it seems just the ticket being able to stretch it and fine. Will show more progress soon. foxy
Started on the Pontos masts, foremast has a piece of the Academy but the rest is Pontos from there add on kit. As you can see it goes together well, Have soldered most but CA had to be used as we know around the plastic.
AngloSaxon
Lovely work there foxy. The Pontos set is indeed great to work with albeit the instructions sometimes list the wrong part numbers (unless they amended them). Have you downloaded the PDF version of the instructions of their website? I found them much easier to use as you can zoom in. Mike.
foxy
Yes Mike I did download the PDF instructions, much better than the original. More pictures on this build. The main mast. This is all brass construction. Edited November 26, 2012 by foxy

foxy
Thanks very much guys. Well next comes the paint for the hull and top surfaces which will protrude through the wood deck when inplace. Here also I have started on the main 15inch turrets, you can see the resin covers and brass 15in guns. Also the 20mm AA Tubs inplace. I removed thease later for the resin ones. I used WEM paints for the hull with AP 507A,B and C, C and B for the camoflage colours and A for the bridge surfaces. Wood deck placed. Bow with brass runners inplace but not fitted yet. foxy
Next after paint is dry and more towel is fixed to base. It was the turn of fixing the ship to the base. I used Universal glue/PVA and CA to fix. Then tape to hold inplace till dry. Just the hull shape and no superstructure yet. Thease can be done separately. Here I have made a start on the three main structures. Thease are just layed on the deck. Edited November 28, 2012 by foxy

Shar2
She's coming along nicely Frank. Are you going to continue to build up the water texture,as there seems to be a fair amount of paper/board textures visible.

louiex2
Nice build. Never thought of using kitchen towel and PVA for water before- looking forward to following the build.
foxy
Thanks Dave, chewitt and Louiex2. Yes more to add yet Dave. I then painted more paint and PVA till I came to this. The white is filler that you use for cracks in walls etc, just pasted on with the finger and brushed, will have coats of klear over later. Still some more later. But its on to the little things now like pom poms and boats next. Edited December 1, 2012 by foxy
