Caution Wake Turbulence
Hello, the postie dropped this off this morning: the 2012 PAS Models Boeing 757-200 resin kit. Hopefully I'm not treading on anyone's toes by posting some pictures of the kit. I have no first-hand experience of the Minicraft or Authentic Airliners kits, so I can't really compare directly, however, this looks like a finely detailed kit and I think it will build into a nice model. The moulding seems generally good, with only a few small bubbles. The trailing edges are paper thin, unfortunately one of the horizontal stabilisers has lost a corner because of this. Thanks for looking. Sorry the lighting isn't fantastic. Larger versions are available on my Flickr page. bentwaters81tfw
We can't have accurate 757s posted on here, we'd have nothing to slag off! It looks very nice, but I've got these two Minicrap ones.........

Pin
Why not? Note though that the model is built from the previous version of PAS kit. Edited November 24, 2012 by Pin

Caution Wake Turbulence
Hi Kev1n, I got mine off eBay: http://www.ebay.co.u...=&_trksid=p3686 not cheap though. Took 10 days to arrive. I'm no expert, but it looks 757ish to me. Part of the reason I posted the pics was to invite comment from more learned Britmodellers... George D.
Why not? Note though that the model is built from the previous version of PAS kit. Ah... that explains it. Ok. Because those photos showed an ugly 757 with fat tail and tail cone.. From what I can tell from the photos of the kit, the nose looks fine, the wings are nice and the only thing wrong is that horizontal line along the fuselage that the 727 had but not the 757 although it was based on the same fuselage, Not as beautiful as the real thing is (Ok... was...my favourite plane and airline): BTW, you can see more pictures and some close ups in the same album. Caution Wake Turbulence
Hi George, do you mean this line? http://www.airliners.net/photo/Delta-Air-Lines/Boeing-757-232/2127406/L/&sid=bd29ba91f6fb86f0f037aa379481ea0f Andrew
George D.
Hi George, do you mean this line? http://www.airliners...037aa379481ea0f Andrew Exactly. That one looks like a really tired bird...!
Caution Wake Turbulence
...the only thing wrong is that horizontal line along the fuselage that the 727 had but not the 757 although it was based on the same fuselage... so what's wrong with the line then, I confused? Jessica
so what's wrong with the line then, I confused? It looks perhaps a trifle overstated aft of the wings. Nothing that a little sanding won't cure.
Caution Wake Turbulence
It looks perhaps a trifle overstated aft of the wings. Nothing that a little sanding won't cure. Hmmm, maybe. George seemed to be suggesting that it shouldn't have been there at all, but maybe something was lost in translation? It's my first foray into resin kits, but it looks reasonably straightforward. There are no antennae or similar accoutrements, so these will need to be scratched. I've got TwoSix's Delta 752 decals, but I may supplement these with some extra stencils. The profile of the rear fuselage seems to match the Boeing drawings fairly well, although I've only done a fairly cursory comparison. I may be some time though - real life has a habit of getting in the way of modelling these days... Andrew
madaboutmodels
Hi Andrew what will you do with the Decals if you don't use them on this kit??

George D.
What I meant and probably didn't write it the right way is that the line is barely visible in the 757s and it seems a bit over-exaggerated in the model. In most of the photos I've seen it's not visible on most liveries and barely visible on others.
Caution Wake Turbulence
Okay, I'm with you now George. I think you may be right - I guess it depends a lot on the livery, and the lighting.

David G
I could be tempted by this kit but I wouldn't be doing a scheme which needs the winglets. From the photos it looks like the wings are moulded with the original tips which presumably have to be cut away to fit the winglets. Is this correct? Hi David, Yes, that's right - the wings are moulded with the original tips intact. Andrew
