1/32 Lockheed Hudson - Update - 28th Feb.

Hey everyone, I'm jumping on the vacform wagon wink.png

I bought this kit off Tigger/John Wilkes at SMW and have made a start. Seeing as all my modelling stuff is still tucked away from moving I'm just going to stay on this as much as possible. It's a great size and there is loads to do, so I shouldn't get bored!

This is only my second vac kit, my first is still a WIP but I was dying to get another after seeing how much fun they are!

Here's some photos..

and here she is, fuselage cut out and sanded, wings just cut out and taped together so I can see the size. Roughly 2ft wide! biggrin.png

(Since the photo was taken, nearly all bulkheads made and the cockpit area cut out. Photos soon!)

Excellent start.

Any thoughts on the finish?

Incidentally, is it a Cyclone or Twin Wasp version or does the kit come with both options?

Bookmarked!

Trevor

Neither! All it has is the bare minimum, x4 sheets of plastic and the clear parts + spares. I'm doing it as a Mk.IV Coastal Command so that'll be a Twin Wasp version? Not properly looked that far into this build yet.

Radleigh,

Ooh great start.look forward to seeing this.

Cheers mate.

1/32 is certainly the 'IN' scale, looking forwards to your progress Radleigh :)

Cheers Woody!

Hi mate, don't forget if you get really stuck for engines I have that pair or REALLY basic resin radials. Not sure what they are supposed to be to be honest, but with a bit of work they'd pass as a Wright Cyclone or Twin Wasp. You have to add push rods and wiring harnesses etc, and add a fair bit to the reduction gear housing but I used them for both my B-17 and B-24 builds and once inside the cowling are passable.

If you're interested I'll dig them out and take a photo.

I'm looking forward to seeing you crack on with this!

Alright Tom, If you could take a pic that would be good, but thinking of it I might just have them off you, I won't mind a bit of work!

OK I'll dig them out at some point over the weekend for you

Thanks chaps, this has been progressing nicely since I've now built myself a little den under the stairs (it's not as cramped as it sounds...!) with lots of lighting, work area and good use of all the coves for my paints etc! Which now means no more dinner table modelling and I can now leave my kit as it were and carry on when I have the time! :)

Found this gem of a link here which has made me want to make the Boulton Paul turret, despite really not wanting to since getting this kit. John Aero is also sending me some drawings which will help nicely!

Shall get an update soon, I find just building the model and not worrying with taking photos actually makes me get more done....funny enough!

Radleigh.

Cheers Trevor :)

Apologies for the lack of updates, I get more done and I'm quite busy with work at the moment..

I've managed to get the windows cut out, cockpit floor in place, cabin floor in place and some frame work, curtains plus the bulkheads with some detail. Been making the radio parts they just need painting and fitting but won't be fitted until it's all painted inside. Hopefully look ok but considering your not going to see much.....

Also note the square hole in the side, thats for a spar. More on that later.

I just taped this together to get an idea for the windows on the other side, it may have been a few months since I started this, but i'm back on it, just very slowly :)

Looking good Radleigh,, nice to see you 'back to work'. Should be quite a beast when done........trouble with these things is knowing where and when to stop!

Agree there! I'm going to keep the interior to the bare minimum but concentrate on the cockpit / nose area. :)
