theplasticsurgeon
The Viggen was such fun - I'm rejoining you with this J-21A. An aircraft that I know nothing about, so there's not likely to be much beyond model-making here. Anyway here is the box and the parts. This kit was an end of GB raffle prize from a few years ago - many thanks.
Roland Pulfrew
Tim I made some of these many years ago and I seem to remember it as a good kit. Pleased to see you going for a second aircraft in the GB. I really need to get on with my 105, but recovering my partner's son from a flooded road put paid to those plans tonight. theplasticsurgeon
I just wikied this Viking defender. Indigenous Swedish design described as very efficient. Powered with a DB605B similar the a Bf109 (I thought it might be a Merlin). The type was innovative with a tricycle undercarriage, heavy forward-firing armament , and twin-boom pusher layout. Unsurprisingly it had an ejection seat - to escape that rear mount propellor. Undoubtedly WWII technology, it was developed from 1943, actually entering service in Dec 1945. Retired in 1954. Anyway I painted mine yesterday and applied decals on this morning: I've fitted the canopy tonight. theplasticsurgeon
Canopy added and framed. The wheels and undercarriage are all pained and drying. Hope to fit them tonight.

theplasticsurgeon
Well it's completed now. Waiting for daylight to do some photos for you.
Savenosouls
Could I ask what type of green paint you went for - I was due to do one of these however the inconvenience of work has meant I was unable to contribute. Your J21 looks great (to my untrained eye) I did wonder about trying to make a set of ladders and use a spare pilot to recreate the photos as shown on the IPMS Stockholm website!!! Savenosouls
Does it require a nose weight to prevent it tail sitting?
theplasticsurgeon
Does it require a nose weight to prevent it tail sitting? Oh yes - which I forgot to put in Hence the final underside shot shows a white plastic prop in the port undercarriage bay. That's how I'm preventing tail sitting now.
