Wez
Can anybody point me to a walk round for post-war FAA Avengers (such as the ECM.6)? Need to look at just how much weathering there was on these aircraft and where it occurred. Thanks Wez Edited November 17, 2012 by Wez

camper1
In the early sixties several ECM6 aircraft were in storage at Abbotsinch, these were all in Sea blue and although a bit faded they were all in reasonable condition with little sign of excessive weathering.Have alook at a website called Prestwick Memories and look under the Abbotsinch page where you might find some pictures. Pat C
Wez - I've got a couple of Air Britain mags that had a feature on post war Avengers. The answer to your question seems to be not much weathering is apparent although the pics are rather small. I guess the service life was quite short so that would make sense. There is one with white-wall tyres (!) which looks very smart!! Pat

Ian I found this site whilst looking for FAA Skyraider images, it is an absolute goldmine of images and references! http://www.dhc-2.com/Aird_Aviation_Archives.html Enjoy browsing! Mark. Tom Cobbley
This is a great walk around site. some good images of the FAA Museum ECM 6. http://www.airshowmodels.co.uk/airshowmodels_walkarounds_uk.php Sadly no shots of the interior, maybe one day the museum will open the door? Wez
Thanks all for your replies, I'd have expected most wear and tear around those areas visited by the groundcrew, I was just trying to suss out where they were, the GSB finish seems pretty durable and resistant to wear. When I get around to it I don't think my Avenger will be overly weathered. Wez
