Had a quick shufti in the box. Usual Trumpy packaging with plastic matting around the sprues for protection. But what I can see is well moulded.

So, yes, very happy. Off to Micromaster's site now.

O.T.

re. your splinter mats on HMS Kent, I'm going to trial using plastic card, carving details  and a wash of extra thin to 'soften' them a bit. I'll post what I think.

Might have to start winning lotto atm, with some of these 1/700 scale ships coming onto the market Especially if CVA-1 does get produce as I will need an escort group for that carrier down the track.

I can echo that sentiment, even though my preferred  ship modelling scale is 1/350 (with a sideline in the Airfix 1/600 range), we certainly are living in a "Golden Age" for scale modelling, but of course everything comes at a price, and my wallet is struggling to keep up.

I keep getting a 'possible scam alert' on the link to Greg's website so I don't visit there.   I shall probably get an Oberon if they do become available in UK.

It is actually Ozmods site Mike, but they must have issues with their security certificate. It gives me the same message. A bit frustrating when sites aren't current on security certs!

Yeah, I know that feeling ever since I’ve been on the Pension post med discharge from the RAAF. But what the wife doesn’t know is a good thing when comes to this hobby.  Yes it’s a Golden Age for scale modelling atm and it will be interesting to see how long it lasts?

Well Mikromir keep them coming, finally they have filled the gap in their US SSBN's with two new releases in 1/350 SSBN-608 Ethan Allen (this was the first fully designed SSBN class following the cobbled together George Washington (stretched skipjack) class)

Also they have released a spec ops version in 1/350 USS John Marshall, c/w dry deck shelters.

So with Mikromir you can now build all SSBN classes up to but not including the OHIO.

Although very welcome, a few more RN subs would be nice.

Stuart

With Starling models 1/350 S class on the horizon and OKB's recent group 2 C class in 1/350 & 1/700 the RN submarines are on the increase, so who knows whats coming Stuart, as Mikromir and OKB generally  release them without little or no warning.

All the best Chris

I see that AFV Club's 1/350 LST 491-class is now in shops. Does anybody know when they'll get to the 542-class? That will enable me to build LST-938 USS MARICOPA COUNTY. My father served on her in the early 50s; he's in the foreground

Hi Michal - that's very promising - I see there were 2 versions of LCI (Large) the scond without the cyliindrical gun tubs was the one commonly seen in RN colours - Hope that Ben is planning to do that version as well.  Even greater need for appropriate RN crew figures!!!
