http://p.twipple.jp/Qnf2v

They're also doing an IJN transport, the Mamiya:

http://p.twipple.jp/Q0b6y

Tamiya are doing a late war USS Saratoga CV-3 - that was announced a while ago, but here's the first set of image:

I nearly missed Trumpeter's 1/350 Tsesarevich, which can't be too far away from release. Fans of French tumblehome naval architecture will snap this one up, I'd imagine.

Pah! Only 1:700, where are all the new 1:350 ships?

Fujimi have announced a 1/350 Kaga:

http://www.fujimimokei.com/

Also 1/700 kits of the Chokai in 1942, Triple Deck Kaga and light cruiser Kitakami, possibly 1945 Kaiten carrier fit based on the photo.

Oh, and "Chibi Maru" kits of a Kagero and the other three Kongo class battleships. They've already done Super-Deformed versions of the Kongo, Yamato, Musashi and the Akagi.

Chibi Maru Kongo HERE.

Altogether now - Awww, cuuute!

OK, now you're talking, will go well with my 1:350 Akagi, but I bet it ain't going to be cheap.

As for the chibi maru, I just don't get them at all, but each to their own.

Better shot of the Ark Royal from Aoshima's Facebook page:

Ark Royal.

I can make out a Fulmer, Skua and an Albacore on deck.

There's also a preview of another 1/700 IJN Auxiliary they'd announced a while ago, the Kimikawa Maru in seaplane tender form.

Kimikawa Maru.

By the looks of it, it'll blow the old inaccurate Pit-Road/Skywave kit out of the water. At least it'll be the right length this time! :thumbsup2:

It looks as though Trumpeter haven't been invited again, neither has Academy by the looks of it. I have heard that's due to Tamiya accusing both companies of plagiarism.

Mike. :)

I understand that the Airfix Mauretania and Queen Elizabeth are now available from their site. Would anybody happen to know if these have been updated in any way, or are they just plain re-releases?

Either way I'll probably pick up a Mauretania at some stage.

Ross.

I forgot to mention this earlier, but here's another one for WW2 Royal navy fans;

Trumpeter have announced a 1943 condition HMS Malaya to compliment their kits of the Barham and Warspite in 1/700.

http://www.scalemates.com/products/product.php?id=535868

Roll on the Queen Elizabeth!

The WW2 version, though it's really the Valiant I'm after. B)

I'll make a wild guess and say Dragon might be a likely candidate for the new carrier as it would fit with their 1/700 Daring. As for a 1/350 kit I think Trumpeter is the most likely suspect. :hmmm:

Anyway, we'll see.

Don't know about Trumpy being main candidate, as Airfix has (in conjunction with DaveCov) done a bit with the new carrier (plans, design, assistance). There's a thread about it on here somewhere.

I'm almost definitely positively maybe certain (actually really hoping) that Airfix will release a 350th HMS QE.

Although it might be of less interest than Malaya or Ark Royal but I've read that Trumpeter's 1/700 USS Colorado will be out early next year. For those who don't know, the kit will depict the ship in late WW2 fit. Colorado never got the rebuild that Tennessee, Callifornia and West Virginia got but remained similar to how she looked entering the war, albeit with the additional of various radar's and massive upgrade of AA battery and a lovely dazzle camouflage scheme. I'll certainly be getting one for myself, funds allowing!

thanks

Mike

Trumpeter have announced that they're going to release the Queen Elizabeth class battleship HMS Valiant in 1/700 scale (bottom of page):

http://www.cybermodeler.com/news/trumpeter.shtml

According the blurb the model will be in 1939 condition.

That's all three of the Matapan battleline in 1/700 then! :yahoo:

Oh, I forgot to mention, there's been some indications that Trumpeter are also doing a 1/700 1941 USS California to go with their Maryland and West Virginia kits.

http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=37762&start=760#p640870

Looks like they're working through the Pearl Harbor line up then. :hmmm:

I'll happily nab a USS Oklahoma if they do one.... :wicked:

Not sure were to put this. The new release from Orange hobby "HMS Victorious 1/700",Package great, plans great, first look at kit, same high standard model, plus the photo etch looks great, again same high standard, here comes the hip-up,the ship is a 1958 finish not 1966, there are difference and the Air Wing is 1966

Read this quick review on Steel Navy http://members.boardhost.com/Warship/msg/1399935737.html

Yes I bought one with the full air group and was disappointed, but only on this point as OH have still made a stunning model. So perhaps a dedicated OH Victorious thread could be started to assist those wishing to correct the hull errors, especially the lack of balloon filling station and the modified walkways under the round down.

Methinks the best way out of this is to make the earlier post-refit Victorious with green/grey/yellow flight deck and suitably sourced air group instead.

Really pleased to see Valiant being released. My Dad served on her from 1939 until she was damaged at Alexandria. I've got some first hand references courtesy of his photo albums too.

Cheers

Its was on FB link to model warships site HMS Nelson 1/200http://new2.trumpeter-china.com/index.php?g=home&m=article&a=show&id=36&l=en

Great news. 1/200 is a bit too large/pricey for me - 350 is about as large as I go for ships, but I'm sure it will be welcomed by many.
