Aeroclub Anson

Did anbody manage to buy an Aeroclub Anson at SMW? By the time I got there at 11.00 on Saturday they had all gone! Shock, horror - but nevermind some retail therapy elsewhere managed to ease the pain. I have written to John Aero seeking info on ordering an Anson. In the meantime the one on display looked exquisite.

Cheers,

John

I spoke to John just before nine. He was busy so I said I wanted two Hali sets but I'd come back later. "Don't do that!" he said "They'll be all gone." Someone was asking for a JP - maybe you. And someone else for an Anson too, so there must have been a few left then.

Didn't get an 'Annie', DID get a JP3/4

Reserved one Friday before they arrived, mine was the penultimate sale at 08:50 Saturday morning!

Was this the JP in 1:48 scale?

The Anson now has a clear injected styrene fuselage which replaces the Vac one and it has a new interior to suit. The JP.3/4 is 1:48 and has more plastic parts in it. I have to do some mods to the mould before I run off a new batch. I am thinking of an update pack for the old Anson kit owners.

................"new interior to suit"........... "update pack for the old Anson kit owners"................ That will go down well for this "old" Anson kit owner young John. As I recall the innards was all tubes, wires, plywood and flappy fabric - well Cottesmores was anyway.

Just waiting for a re-released Grebe and Gamecock, in vac-form of course, - it's the only way to model.

Sorry I got the last Anson at 9.30!!

Very good it is too, sorry folks am sure

John will make more.

Does it include decals? Certainly the one made up at SMW looked good.

Thanks,

John

Just received my two Aeroclub Ansons which were kindly purchased for me at SMW in the post this morning. The clear fuselage looks very neat.

On thing I have noticed though, there is no astrodome or clear T.20 bomb aimers glazing included in either of my kits. This means that the T.20 decal option can't be built out of the box. On my previous 2 Aeroclub Ansons with the vac fusleages (an early white metal engine and cowling, and a later resin engine a cowling set), both had the astrodome and bomb glazing included on the vac form canopy fret. In the latest version only a vac windscreen is included.

Nice to see that its back. But I have built one and did a build article for SAMI some years ago. if i can find it among the piles of boxes of built models in my shed, I'll ddo some photos. It'll be interesting to compare.

I think there's a bin of fuselage pods somewhere at the back of the plastic granule store. I'll be shoving out some more Ansons shortly when I've replaced some moulds for another kit. I made a new canopy for the new clear fuselage and I didn't want the include the parts for the 21 but the decals have the markings for the 21 included and I have plenty of the decals left, this and the fact I had many of the wing components left is why the Anson has appeared again.
