Peter Marshall
Finished today the nice Airfix Seafire F.XVII, completely OOB. I decided to build this to try the Agama Alcohol based paints - specifically the EDSG, DSG and Interiour Grey-Green. These paints behave nicely when thinned with IPA or Mr Levelling thinner, close to Gunze to spray, and has the advantage that Agama do colours that gunze dont :-). Unfortunately at the moment you can only buy them direct from Agama but hopefully that will change. The paints: And the finished Peter

VG 33
Very nice. I have not tried the Agama red cap range. So far I've used only blue cap range. I was told Xtracrylix is also made by Agama. We can buy the all agama paint ranges here : http://www.hobbyshop.cz/shop/6-agama-alcohol I have always been satisfied with this on line shop. Rick Brown
Lovely Spit Peter! If Agama make the Xtracrylix range do these offer anything new or different? I quite like the Xtracrylix range, nice gloss finish ready for a clear cote. Rick. Edited November 11, 2012 by Rick Brown
Horr!do
Im from Czech republic(Agama is Czech company)I prefer to use Agama alcohol color(RED Line) for all my models about 2 years. Its very simple to use for Airbrush. For paintbrush is not good. NOTE for modellers: Xtracrylix is same like Agama water based colors, not Agama RED Line colors(who use Peter). Its different type of colors of same company. For Agama Water based colors(Xtracrylix) use original thinner or Tamiya X-20A. For Alcohol based Agama RED Line you must use original or Gunze Levelling or Tamiya Lacquer thinner. Edited November 11, 2012 by Horr!do
Rick Brown
Thanks for clearing that up Horr!do, I think I understand this product range now. Cheers, Rick.
Peter Marshall
From my point of view the alcohol (red top), are a lot easier to spray with no clogging. They are also a lot easier to spray at high dilutions so for example I did some spraying with a paint mix of 90% thinners. I would put them third in ease of use, after Gunze then Tamiya but they do have colours that aren't present in Gunze and Tamiya. Don't get any water in them - they do go gloopy ! c.smith10
What's the price like when compared to Tamiya/gunze? Cheers
Peter Marshall
Price wise they were about £1.30 per 10ml bottle, but the paint is a lot thicker than Tamiya / Gunze so needed more thinner. However shipping wasn't cheap - ideally a U.K. Distributor would make it better

rmcclure
Great stuff. I bought one of these in MZ's 3 for 2 sale the other day and I think it's just been promoted to top of the pending pile after seeing just how nicely yours has come out.
