Could anybody who has attended Telford today please let us know what, if any new kits have been announced today, especially by Airfix?

I`ve seen the thread about the Spit PR.XIX sprues being on show, which sounds great but is there anything else?

Cheers

Airfix, Tamiya etc are all keeping very quiet, I did probe but to no avail.......However, on one of the traders stands sat a rather beautiful prototype of the forthcoming Kinetc 1/32 Hawk 100, I was taken aback when I saw it, a bit left-field where it sat but looks gorgeous. A new Pacific Tamiya P-51D looked very nice, contains bombs and rocket tubes. Hpm (I think that is right) had a prototype 1/32 Catalina and is looks beyond stunning, possibly the best kit I've ever seen, and for 600 euros or so it should be! Seriously though, I understand how much work can go into a kit like that and it will be worth every penny. Almost worth a divorce. Available as a pre-order, out December according to the rep. They also had had an L-29, L-39 and Kingcobra (plus a 1/48 Russian F-22 equivalent, PAK something?) available now, all around the £80 mark. Fly have the new Jet Provost/Strikemaster, bought one and it is certainly lovely. Price was £31.50. There is also some guy who has brought out an entire 1/144 space shuttle and Mercury launch pad mostly in PE, goodness, big but not stupidly so. Ooh, so tempting, he deserves a medal! Kinetic 1/48 US Navy Goshawk out too, around £30, Zoukei-Moura have a superb stand, very professional and their Uhu does look awesome, but at around £130 when released in Feb 2013 (or thereabouts) would you buy it over the Revell version which can be had for £45? I wish them success though, and they certainly seemed to be doing a roaring trade and their president was there and a bloody nice guy he was too. So much more, I'll make it my purpose to track down more stuff, of which there is alot!

Jeeezzz... I'd wanna be able to sit in it for that much. :yikes:

Crikey Blimey, that's so far outside my price bracket, I'd need a passport and visa to get anywhere close.

Wolfpack Design's T-38A in 1:48 has finally been given a release date: January 2013 for the USAF version, followed by one with NASA markings in April.

Zoukei Moura are really working on a 1:48 F-4 Phantom, but no details as yet.

Those were my news of the day...

Cheers lads, it sounds like a good show this year.I believe that Trevor Snowden has a new book about building Spitfire models out too from D&V, that should be good?

If anybody has more info please enlighten us,

First I've heard of that. Will it be styrene (based on the Kinetic F-5B kit perhaps?) or resin?

As for the T-38, that's been in the making for a while. I've asked the Wolfpack owner about the release date at Telford last year and he said it would be out around the end of the year (i.e. 2011). It's their first full injection moulded (plastic) kit and probably they had some problems and have kept it under the radar. It's their own kit as far as I know, a completely independent tooling (which makes me hope it's finally an accurate T-38 kit, not some pseudo-F-5B).

This year they have proper display cards and a sprue layout for the kit (no test shots though), and it's release date. Too bad I forgot to take pictures of it.

It sounds like a pretty poor show for new releases if this is all of the news! What about the cottage industry? A2Zee, Freightdog, Aeroclub etc? I suppose the major manufacturers are waiting for the Toy Fair to announce their new wares nowadays but the smaller companies used to use Telford as their major platform.

Cheers,

Also on the Z-M stand was the new J2M3 Raiden in 1:32, the Shinden and Ta-152 being released in 1:48. Panda had quietly released a 2S6M Tunguska, which looked very nice, unfortunately I prevaricated and by the time I had decided to buy one they were all sold out.

I was hoping to see the Trumpeter A3D, Academy F-4B and Great Wall MiG-29 (test shots at least), but they either weren't there or I missed them. Didn't have much time for looking around as I was attending my first humble bit of table space at any show (courtesy of Miracle Masks).

Tony, No real need to go to Telford to find out what Freightdog, A2Zee etc are issuing, its all on their websites - and on the traders pages on this very website...

Some rather nice stuff too...............
