Martyn
Ta much for the positive comments fellas, its appreciated. Still experimenting with the forward gun deck, having trouble trying to work out how to replace the kit supplied spare shell holders that are arranged round the gun mounting, soooo left that for now and started on the forward superstructure. I scribed the lines to replicate the planking around the wheel house, and the hand rails are items from great little ships. Here's some pics. Rickpadwick1801
This looks great. I will have to consider adding this kit to my stash in the future as soon as I can create a space big enough to store it in. Keep up the good work. Rick
Niall
On the 4" shell holders, I've done a CAD design for 3D printing for my Flower, the picture below shows the design. I need to copy the design several and add a sprue before uploading it to the printing company, before I know what it will cost. I'll do this later today.
Niall
I've tweaked the design and made a sprue of 12 as shown in the picture below. 2 would be needed for 1 ship, which would cost £9 +P&P.

Niall
Just heard back from Shapeways. I've made the sprue a bit too short(0.05mm!) and too thin to print without breaking, so they have cancelled the item. I've tweaked the design and will resubmit it after I have finished a couple of other items in a day or 2.

Martyn
Once again, ta much for the kind words fellas. Bit of work done on the gun deck, I have tried to replicate the non slip surface on the deck by cutting out a circle of fine 'wet and dry' and gluing it down, then added a few strips of thin plastic card. Bit more finishing needed. The muzzle blast canvas was made with some crunched up oven foil, coated with some pva glue, then painted.
Martyn
Purchased some rope drums from internet to replace the kit items (cheating but easier) Then started working on the front bomb throwing thingy. First tried to spruce up the kit supplied item But when it was placed in position, it just did not look correct (to big) ------ Sooooo out came some more plastic card and a new one has being built. The copper wire in the bottom of the rocket is for easier fixing later on. Cheers for now Martyn. PS: Niall, any news yet ?

Martyn
Cheers Foxy, and thanks for the info Kev, but looking at the real projectiles and comparing then to the kit ones, it's looking like I will have to modify 26 of the little devils fun fun fun. Jockster
Each post as enjoyable as the previous one Martyn, your scratchbuilding is excellent, neat and tidy. If I ever do get to build this kit then your thread is going to be the prime reference. Well done mate!
Niall
Just heard from Shapways. There is still a problem with the design! I'm going to have to rotate the shell holders to fit the sprue to the base of the front upright. I'll do this and reorder later today.
Niall
Just got the test print of the shell holders from Shapeways today. They look good. I'll let everyone know when the Shapeways shop is up and running.

Martyn
Ok, not a lot off progress has being made lately, other things have being getting my attention, just a few more pictures of the things that have being done. Hoist in front of the bridge / wheelhouse : Pulley and rigging done. Bow section railings finished. Test fitted the 'roof' of the wheelhouse, and the front support brackets are a tad short, new one's will need making Also started the Sonar / Asdic hut, the fit was not that good, so plastic fillers needed.
