That's looking seriously nice, lovely work on the cockpit. It always seems a shame to close up something that is so beautifully painted. Nice photography too

Thanks Peter and Chris, I agree Chris it's a shame, never looks quite as good as I'd hoped once it's all zipped up in the fuselage. Got the wings on today, seems to build quickly once the cockpit was finished although I skipped the engine of course. Dipped the canopy sections in future tonight and will now leave them for a few days.

Cheers...

Small update.

Getting the seams tidied up and have begone re-scribing where necessary. On the next two pics you can just see where I've re-scribed down the back of the fuselage, quite faint but I'm trying to match the eduard panel lines, will check again when primer is on

And the underside has been done. I use the RB productions Scribe-R and some fine line masking tape for the edge.

20121125_110708.jpg

You can see in the picture above that I chopped the tailwheel, I glued the top part as per the instructions and drilled it out, you can just see the hole. I didn't fancy attaching it so early in the build and also thought I would try and add a bit of turn to it for some visual effect later.

So here is the rest of the wheel which I've pinned for later, It's been primed along with the main undercarriage.

The kit includes part of the brake line system but I added the top section from thin plastic rod and the bottom was thin fuse wire so I could get the shape, this bit was super glued in place.

I used to do all the undercarriage bit at the end of a build but always rushed them in my over excitement so now I do them as the build progresses and enjoy it far more.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers...

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. Was away at the weekend so not much progress, I'm busy getting it all zipped up so I can start priming and then the fun bit.

Good morning everyone.

Sorry for my lack of updates recently, the Christmas season is getting in the way and also the lack of light has made photo's tricky. I have made some progress and snapped some shots when possible.

I had a little trouble fitting the canopy front and rear sections (the centre section is just squeezed in as a mask) but after much fiddling I managed to get the primer on, I used Alclad grey primer on the airframe.

20121210_103820.jpg

The wheel wells are masked with blue tack.

20121210_103833.jpg

I did a very rough pre-shade and then used a mix of RLM 65, highlights of 76 and then back over with the 65. The RLM 02 was a mix of the Tamiya RLM grey followed with highlights using the Gunze RLM 02. This was them masked for the RLM 71.

20121216_100420.jpg

Very thin Gunze RLM 71 was put on and then I highlighted the panels with some Gunze RLM 82, I used this as it's a light green thats nice and bright rather than lightening the 71 with white which may just look a bit washed out (all just an experiment really).

20121216_131655.jpg

I then misted the RLM 71 back over to try and blend it in a little.

And this is how it looks now unmasked. Sorry the lights crap today, I didn't get a picture of the bottom.

One or two small bits to fix but hope to get some Aqua gloss on later. Will need to pack it all away in a few days for Christmas but may manage a decal or two first.

Thanks for looking everyone and please let me know if I've mucked anything up.

Cheers...

That's a real nice finish, I like it a lot... Your skills with the airbrush, are they off the shelf? Where can I buy?!!

Dan and Greased Lightning thanks for your very kind comments, I really appreciate them.

I managed to get some decals on, I live in fear of decals but never ever have a problem with the ones in Eduard kits.

Hit a snag luckily not to late to fix but will have to wait till after the new year.

Here is the boob, only a small one but I did call myself a few strong names :banghead:

photo.jpg

Should be a simple little respray once I unpack everything again.

A picture of the underside, doesn't show up to well in the picture but should take a wash nicely when the time comes.

Thanks for looking..
