Doug Rogers
This is going to be one of my two entries for this GB. Going to try building two models simultaneously which I've not done before, just trying to get my score for 2012 up to a more respectable level!Open box, sprue shots. Have to say this kit looks really nice on the sprues, a real gem from Airfix here;Going to be using these transfers from 'Revi'. Not come across them before, actually got these on the same sheet as the ones for the 109F-4 I'm going to be doing as well. Always quite liked these early splinter schemes;More later,Doug. FZ6
I've built this kit and have another on the go. It's a really enjoyable kit to build. Look forward to seeing progress.
stoohoo
Look forward to seeing this one come together too Doug, I built the Galland option last year and completely agree with FZ6, its a lovely kit to build, Cheers, Stu
jacksdad
I was hoping someone would do the Airfix kit as I have heard a lot of good reports about it. Steve
Spikelhund
Quite fancy an Airfix Bf 109 myself Doug so I'm keen to see your progress. Cheers...
Mottlemaster
It is good to see Airfix being well represented in the 109 gb as i think we had only one in the 190 Agree early splinter schemes do look good and are often ignored for mottle or blue sides. smuts
Hi, yep its a real nice kit, as good as its far east cousin!, & great to see the early splinter camo too.. Andy.
PanzerPaulo
I've been resisting the temptation to buy this kit for far to long, as Andy says it's a great kit... maybe I'll break my own resistence and get one.
Doug Rogers
There's a saying that always springs to mind in these situations Paolo, 'Resistance is futile!'

Doug Rogers
Made a start on this kit. Plastic is quite soft so care has to be taken removing parts from the sprues. Propellor assembly is together; Painted with Acylic matt black on the blades, Humbrol 56 for the hub and White Ensign RLM70 for the spinner. And the spin test; I've sprayed the interior parts RLM02 on the sprues, so next shots I should have the cockpit assembled. Doug Rogers
OK, so I'm rolling on this one now, finished the cockpit area; And got the fuselage halves together, and the wings glued on; That'll probably be it until Weds next week. Dan
Very tidy! Looks a great kit this does, one to try myself whenever I get around to making another
Peter W
Not far behind me Doug and looking good. It really is a tidy fitting kit and goes together without too much fuss. Pete
Doug Rogers
Had a couple of good days progress, something like an hour and a half masking, then about 30 secs to peel it all off afterwards! Â Paints are White Ensign enamels, really nice to work with. Â Â Â The darker RLM70 is still a bit tacky so looks a bit glossier at the moment. Got into the habit of peeling the masking off while the paint is still wet, think I read somewhere it helps reduce the possibility of a ridge between the two colours. Â Quite pleased with the contrast between the two colours. Leave that to harden, coat of Klear later on, then transfers tomorrow. Radleigh
Does look like a nice kit, I assume this is a fair new tool kit?
Doug Rogers
Yes, came out last year I think it was. Goes together really nicely, plastic is quite soft, so you have to take care removing parts from the sprues as they can tear.

Doug Rogers
Thanks Paulo, just done a coat of Klear so she should be ready for transfers in the morning (my favourite bit!).
Doug Rogers
OK, all transfers on. Plenty of stencils in that Airfix kit aren't there? Better give it a spray of matt varnish, then just the gunsight, tailwheel, and main undercarriage to fix on.
