Rabbit Leader
All Beaufighter fans, Having just seen a recent TBA snapshot on the Hannants website of Xtradecals Battle for Malta decal sheet (X72161), I was very intrigued by the top surface colours shown on Beaufighter 1C - T3317 XK;? from 272 Squadron, circa July 1941. This a/c looks great in the Coastal Command colours of Extra Dark Sea Grey, Dark Slate Grey & Sky, although reading the old classic Michael JF Bowyers "Fighting Colours" book (page 116), he mentions that this Coastal scheme first appeared on Beaufighters around June 1942. Other publications (Osprey Beaufighter Aces) and quite a nice Painting of this a/c (Google images of T3317) show this a/c to be painted in the old Dark Earth & Dark Green scheme. I must admit I much rather the Xtradecal representation, however can anyone shed some light of this particular a/c or others of this squadron. The B&W photos I've seen are never clear, so before I go on the dreampath of making this my next build I am seeking any additional information / photographs of this aircraft to confirm the top side colours. Hopefully someone out there can shed some light. Many thanks Dave. Edited October 28, 2012 by Rabbit Leader
