F-32
Think the high viz Lightning scheme on an F-106. I once saw a concept of this that some talented artist had done but for the life of me can't remember who it was. Thebackground story will be complete around the same time as the model! First the kit, it's the 1/48th scale Revell offering (ex-Monogram?) and I picked it up at this years Yeovilton show. It's got raised panel lines which is a shame as the rest of it is very nicely detailed. The model will be displayed inflight so should go together relatively quickly
Col.
Cool concept Tony, welcome to the GB.
F-32
The fuselage halfs were held together overnight together with the wings and have dried nicely. I added their first layer of filler which will be allowed to dry overnight before being sanded tomorrow as I'm "working from home" As you can see, it's not a small kit! 001 by tony_inkster, on Flickr 003 by tony_inkster, on Flickr 004 by tony_inkster, on Flickr The aircraft will be fitted with a Lightning style refuelling probe so the boom recepticle has got to go: 002 by tony_inkster, on Flickr 005 by tony_inkster, on Flickr
Col.
Two big sections for the initial progress although the amount of filler required belies the age of the moulds. Nice touch on the refuelling receptacle. Edited October 25, 2012 by Col. Stupid question removed.
F-32
One oddity with the kit is that there is no inflight option for the undercarriage so the undercarriage doors need quite a bit of work - annoying!
Col.
Thinking back over the Monogram kits I've built in the past that was also the case with a few of them, the Skyraider and P-80 at least, unusual given how good the pilot figures were.
