F-4E Kurnass --(Finished)--

Recommended Posts

After the He-111 something i've been planning for a while - due to an administrative error, I ended up with 2 Hasegawa F-4E's when I really only wanted one, so I got some Sky Decals to do it as an IDF one. However i've also got some resin seats, and a quickboost refuelling probe for an A-4 Skyhawk to make the refulling probe that's permanently deployed for IDF Phantoms.

And the decals

Work starts as is normal with the cockpit - started painting up the cockpit

Nice start. Pit looks good. :thumbsup2:

I'll follow this one, as I love IDF stuff. Especially Phantoms. B)

Todays work - first the seats and the crew.

P1000958.jpg

Then fitted them into the pit

P1000959.jpg

P1000960.jpg

Then buttoned up the fuselage

P1000961.jpg

Finally started adding the refuelling probe - some plastic tubing, milliput and a quickboost refuelling probe for an A-4 skyhawk. The probe just slots into the tube, so isn't glued at the moment - i'll glue it when everything else is sorted.

Today's toom tickling

The wings - my pet hate with Hasegawa tooms, sanding off the lumps that shouldn't be there for an E....

Protect the area around it with tape

P1000968.jpg

Then sand off the lump, then rescribe the area

P1000969.jpg

Then attach the wings

P1000970.jpg

use some Mr Surfacer along the wing roots

P1000971.jpg

Finally added the slats

Good work with the refuelling probe.

Are all the Hasegawa Phantoms supplied with with lumps on the wings then?

Looking forward to you getting this to the paint stage :-)

Today's toom tinkering

The front wing / fuselage joint needed some filler, so while that was drying I sorted out the stabs, Alclad Aluminium, and Alclad Steel

P1000973.jpg

Then masked over the NMF section

P1000974.jpg

Then masked off the intakes and wheel wells with blu-tak

P1000975.jpg

P1000976.jpg

Finally sprayed a coat of Alclad grey primer, and micromeshed it back, then run over with a tac cloth to give a nice smooth toom.

Today's work on the Kurnass - started with the Tanks. For some reason only known to Hasegawa the tanks have raised panel lines so a fun time rescribing them to match the rest of the airframe

P1000978.jpg

P1000979.jpg

Then spraying the bare metal on the back of the airframe - lots of different shades of Alclad and quite a lot of patience

P1000980.jpg

P1000981.jpg

Finally masked off the rear section - ready for starting the main painting.
